Description
Aoba Takatsu is a central figure in the narrative as a student at Kibou High School and a close friend to the main character. At first glance, she appears to be a cheerful, caring, and somewhat goofy teenage girl who enjoys fashion, karaoke, and teasing her friends about their romantic entanglements. With a petite stature and notably long, wavy light-colored hair often styled in twintails, she presents an image of a typical high school student. However, this ordinary exterior conceals a complex and tragic past, as well as a secret identity.

Aoba is an orphan who was raised in a place called Penguin House, a church-run orphanage, where she grew up alongside her childhood friends Hajime Uesugi and Toshiya Maeda. From a very young age, she displayed a violent and protective nature, once beating up boys she felt were threatening the other girls. Despite a general distrust of boys, she accepted Uesugi and Maeda as her close companions, often acting as their leader. Her life was shattered when a Code:Breaker, later revealed to be the protagonist Rei Ogami, was sent to eliminate the nun who ran the orphanage. The attack resulted in the nun's death and the destruction of her home, an event that became the defining trauma of her life.

This tragedy forged her primary motivation: a deep-seated and unwavering desire for revenge against Ogami. She concluded that to protect others, she too would have to "fall from grace". To this end, Aoba joined the secret organization Eden and became a Code:Name, an agent with supernatural abilities. Her assigned code name is Revenger, which directly reflects her personal mission. She is placed in the same class as Ogami and Sakura Sakurakouji to monitor them, hiding her true intentions behind a facade of cheerful normality.

When her identity is publicly exposed by Uesugi, the cheerful and clumsy personality she displayed is replaced by a somber, serious, and ruthless demeanor. Her role in the story shifts dramatically from a supportive best friend to a formidable antagonist driven by vengeance. Her key relationships are central to this transformation. Her friendship with Sakura appears genuine, making her betrayal a source of deep shock. Her relationship with her childhood friends is complex; Uesugi was aware of her secret and tried to stop her without violence, while the less-informed Maeda harbors unrequited romantic feelings for her.

Aoba possesses two notable supernatural abilities. Her first and primary power is called Time Change in Object, which allows her to rewind or fast-forward the time of any object or person she touches with her right hand. She can heal injuries, repair damage, or even revert a person to a younger age by declaring the number of seconds she wishes to move through time. Her second ability is Vital Acupuncture, which lets her perform acupuncture on any target without physical contact. This power can be used to shatter objects or strengthen a body. When combined with her time-manipulation ability, she can constantly revert her own body to its peak physical condition. Even without these powers, she is an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant with enhanced strength and speed, capable of punching holes in concrete walls and moving faster than the eye can follow.

Throughout the series, Aoba undergoes significant development. She begins as a seemingly trivial background character, is revealed as a vengeful enemy, and eventually starts to question her path. Her rigid pursuit of revenge causes immense conflict, leading to violent confrontations and personal losses, including the loss of her right arm, which renders her primary ability unusable. Over time, as the truth about the past is fully revealed and circumstances force her to cooperate with those she once hated, her character begins to move beyond pure vengeance, ultimately finding a form of reconciliation and shifting her focus toward a more protective role.
