TV-Series
Description
Mansam is a high-ranking official within the International Gourmet Organization, originally serving as the IGO Development Bureau Director and Gourmet Research Facility Chief before later ascending to the position of IGO President following the death of his predecessor, Ichiryu. He oversees the IGO’s First Biotope, also known as Garden One, a facility responsible for producing roughly thirty percent of the world’s gourmet foods through cloning extinct animals and selective breeding. With authority surpassed only by the President and Vice President, he is considered the third most powerful figure within the organization.
Physically, Mansam is a large, muscular man with a completely bald head marked by two vertical scars on the left side and several metal piercings on top. He has a thin mustache, thick eyebrows, and a flat nose. His typical attire consists of a sleeveless shirt and shorts. A running joke in the series involves his name sounding similar to the English word handsome; whenever anyone says his name, he interprets it as a compliment about his appearance.
Mansam’s personality is defined by a deep respect for life, similar to that of Toriko. He becomes visibly angry when he witnesses unnecessary cruelty, such as a GT robot killing a mother battle wolf while her cub watches. He is also known to be frequently inebriated, as he loves drinking sake and uses it to heal his injuries. His full-course menu reflects this affinity, consisting entirely of alcohol-themed ingredients, including the Bacchus Dragon and the Drunk-Fighting Bull. He keeps a pet Hayanpanther named Rikky, which has a capture level of thirty-one.
Among his notable abilities, Mansam possesses superhuman physical strength and the capacity to augment his body by enlarging his muscles to a gigantic size, a technique that enhances his power in combat. His fighting style and expertise make him a formidable figure within the IGO.
Mansam is an old friend of Toriko and the other members of the Four Heavenly Kings, treating them like family. His role in the story evolves from that of a supportive administrator to taking on greater responsibility as the leader of the IGO, guiding the organization in its mission to protect and regulate the world’s gourmet resources. His character undergoes development as he steps into a leadership position, carrying forward the ideals of his predecessor.
