Description
Nozomi Kako serves as captain of Kako Squad and holds the position of No. 3 Shooter within Border. She ranks among the twelve candidates considered for the Black Trigger Fūjin. Her past includes service in the first generation Azuma Squad alongside Masataka Ninomiya and Shūji Miwa.
Kako possesses long hair parted in the middle and thin eyes, with a mole below her lips on the left side of her face. Her trion body attire consists of a black jumpsuit featuring a purple leotard-like design, her squad's emblem over the left chest, long sleeves covering most of her arms, and laced boots. Two holster belts adorn each side of her uniform. Outside combat, she wears a black jacket over a light-colored shirt paired with black pants.
Her personality presents as laid-back, yet she demonstrates seriousness regarding her duties. Kako expressed shame over failing to reach the battlefield promptly during an invasion. While providing commentary on B-Rank Wars, she critically analyzed combatants' strategies, accurately pinpointing flaws like Ninomiya's slow decision-making. A distinct preference drives her to form a team exclusively with members whose surnames start with "K," leading to the recruitment of Futaba Kuroe and Mai Kitagawa. She approached Yūma Kuga for recruitment due to his surname initial, though he declined. She also indicated Kakizaki would not fit her squad despite his "K" surname.
Combat centers on her customized Hound trigger, which uniquely pre-forms liquid-orb projectiles before firing, enabling her to angle shots around enemy shields. Officially classified as a Shooter because her Hound yields her highest solo points, Kako aims to raise her Scorpion proficiency above 6,000 points to attain All-Rounder status. She temporarily equipped dual Hound triggers for heightened firepower during Galopoula's invasion. Her Border Briefing File parameters are Trion: 9, Attack: 8, Defense/Support: 5, Mobility: 7, Skill: 8, Range: 4, Command: 6, and Special Tactics: 7, totaling 54.
Kako was on leave during most of the Large-Scale Invasion but arrived late to eliminate remaining trion soldiers alongside units led by Konami and Arashiyama. She later joined the defense force against Galopoula's invasion.
Her name carries meanings: "Nozomi" translates to "hope," while "Kako" combines characters for "adding" and "age." It also shares its name with a Japanese river and a WWII cruiser. Kako's interests include driving, apples, making fried rice—a hobby pursued since age six with suboptimal results—and recruiting talented individuals.
