Description
Chiyo Shinooka serves as the manager for the Nishiura High School baseball team. She was born on March 25 and is a first-year student in class 7. Her family consists of her grandmother, parents, and a younger sister.

Chiyo shares a history with some of her teammates, having attended the same middle school as both Takaya Abe and Shogo Sakaeguchi. During those years, she played softball, taking the position of shortstop. This background has given her a solid foundational understanding of baseball rules and gameplay. Her interest in the sport was further influenced by her mother, who had been a manager and greatly enjoyed the experience.

Described as very hardworking and earnest, Chiyo takes great pride in her role and does everything she can to support the team. Her responsibilities are extensive and practical. She prepares food for the players after practice and creates detailed reports on opposing teams, requiring her to stay up late analyzing data. She also handles laundry and other chores, and from time to time, she even makes public announcements during games. Additionally, she takes care of the pet dog belonging to the team's coach, Maria Momoe. Chiyo has an impressive knowledge of her own team members, memorizing all of their full names and birthdays. Outside of baseball, she has a hobby of trying on other schools' uniforms, often swapping with friends and taking pictures.

Within the story, Chiyo is a dedicated and supportive presence. She develops a cooperative working relationship with Coach Momoe and is frequently seen in the dugout during official matches alongside the faculty supervisor, Tsuyoshi Shiga. Her motivations stem from a genuine pride in the team and a desire to see them succeed, leading her to sacrifice her own rest to ensure she provides thorough analysis and support.

Chiyo interacts closely with all members of the baseball club. While she initially stated she had no romantic interest in anyone on the team, it is later revealed that she develops feelings for the catcher, Takaya Abe. However, she decides not to act on these feelings, fearing it would create awkwardness and disrupt the team's dynamic. At the same time, her teammate Fumiki Mizutani appears to hold one-sided feelings for her, a situation she may or may not be fully aware of but chooses to ignore. Early in the baseball club's formation, Chiyo was actually afraid of Abe due to his quick temper and loud, commanding attitude. Over time, she came to understand that his intensity was not born from anger but from a sincere desire to support the pitcher, Ren Mihashi, which she ultimately found admirable.

Chiyo's notable abilities lie not on the field but in her organizational skills and baseball acumen. Her experience playing softball allows her to contribute more than just logistical support, as she is well-versed in the game's strategies and data analysis. Her dedication is such that she has been known to sleep only two hours after spending the entire night analyzing data, only to wake up and prepare meals for the team.
