Description
Hermann Preminger is a character from the anime Ashita no Nadja, where he serves as a primary antagonist. He is the son of Duke Preminger, placing him as the brother of Colette Preminger and the paternal uncle of the protagonist, Nadja. Despite being the current heir to the Preminger estate, his father holds significant reservations about him, and the two are noted to be extremely dissimilar in nature.

He is depicted as a cynical and sneaky individual driven by greed. His primary motivation throughout the story is to secure his inheritance by any means necessary, demonstrating a willingness to deceive his own family to achieve this goal. Unlike his sister Colette, he possesses a malicious and unlikable demeanor.

In his role within the story, Hermann acts as the main villain, actively working to prevent Nadja from discovering her mother and claiming her rightful heritage. His central objective involves acquiring Nadja's brooch, which serves as the key piece of evidence proving her connection to the Preminger family. To accomplish this, he hires the private detectives Rosso and Bianco, who were already in the employ of his father. He later co-opts them to work for him, tasking them with finding Nadja and stealing her brooch. When a new ally, Rosemary, comes his way, Hermann shifts his strategy to a more elaborate scheme. He conspires with Rosemary to have her impersonate Nadja, a deceptive plan designed to trick his father into naming a false heir.

Throughout the series, Hermann maintains several key relationships. He has a contentious dynamic with his father, the Duke, leading him to be described as disowned or effectively rejected as an heir. He is contrasted sharply with his sister Colette, highlighting his own negative traits. Professionally, he manipulates Rosso and Bianco into serving his agenda, and he later forms a partnership with Rosemary to orchestrate the impersonation plot against Nadja.

His development follows his escalating attempts to sabotage Nadja. After reaffirming his goal to inherit the duchy, he continues to use Rosso and Bianco to capture her when she reaches Milan. His schemes ultimately unravel, and in the series' conclusion, he is arrested and jailed alongside his hired detectives Rosso and Bianco. His notable abilities are not physical or combative but rather lie in manipulation, strategic planning of deceptions, and his resources as a member of the nobility to hire others to do his bidding.
