Description
Sanya V. Litvyak, born Aleksandra Vladimirovna Litvyak in Moscow on August 18, 1930, is Orussian and serves with the Orussian Imperial Army. Raised in Vienna by musician parents who nurtured her musical education, her pianist father composed "Sanya’s Song" for her. She clings to the hope that her parents survived the Neuroi invasion of the Black Sea region, fueling her determination to reunite with them.

She enlisted immediately after the Neuroi appeared. Her exceptional talents led her to the 586th Fighter Regiment as a beginner witch training unit despite her youth. Promoted to Pilot Officer, she later transferred to the 501st Joint Fighter Wing as a Flying Officer. Following the 501st's temporary disbandment, she and Eila traveled to the Suomus frontier, stationed at Kauhava Airbase, searching for her parents during vacations.

Sanya is introverted, passive, and reserved, speaking sparingly in a soft, whisper-like voice. She lives nocturnally, active during night patrols but fatigued and sleepy in daylight. Her pale skin, silver hair, green eyes, and quiet demeanor often create an ephemeral or ghostlike impression. She struggles with social interactions outside nighttime but deeply desires friendship with her teammates. Her musical talent, particularly piano and singing, serves as an emotional anchor and bonding tool, like accompanying Minna’s singing.

She shares an exceptionally close relationship with Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen. Eila is fiercely protective, often guiding her physically when drowsy. Their partnership extends beyond duty, with Eila expressing romantic fondness; Sanya’s reciprocation remains ambiguous. Sanya voices annoyance at Eila’s flirtations with others but blushes when Eila focuses affectionate attention solely on her. She also bonds with Yoshika Miyafuji over their shared birthday and appreciates Minna’s kindness in facilitating base improvements like the sauna. Patient and kind, she lacks self-confidence.

Sanya’s magic ability, "Omnidirectional Broad Area Search," manifests as Magic Antenna resembling cat ears and a tail. It harnesses radio waves to detect Neuroi across vast distances, excelling at night due to her specialization as a Night Witch. Her proficiency includes tuning into broadcasts, guiding allies, and rebroadcasting transmissions. She wields a Fliegerhammer rocket launcher and operates several Striker Units: an early-model MiG60 marked with a white lily, a late-night model MiG60 optimized for darkness, and a prototype MiG i-225.

Key developments include forming the 501st’s night combat team with Eila and Yoshika, overcoming a Neuroi designed to counter her abilities. During a mission to destroy a high-altitude Neuroi spire, she is chosen to attack the core. When Yoshika is initially chosen as her protector instead of Eila, conflict arises, resolved when Eila uses her shield to protect Sanya in the stratosphere, strengthening their bond. In the Brave Witches OVA, set during their Suomus deployment, Sanya and Eila navigate comical interruptions to attempted private moments, culminating in watching ceramic shards from a destroyed Neuroi mimic fireworks. This period involves interactions with Waltrud’s romantic advances and Sadako’s uncharacteristic clinginess, highlighting Sanya’s growing composure.

Her journey reflects quiet resilience, balancing her longing for family with frontline responsibilities. Her relationships, particularly with Eila, gradually draw her out of reclusiveness into deeper camaraderie.
