TV-Series
Description
Haruka Armitage is a Meister Otome who serves as the personal guardian and right hand to Yukino Chrysant, the president of the Aries Republic, holding the military rank of Brigadier General. Her official Otome title is the Topaz of the Jewel Isles, and her GEM is the Continental Orb Topaz. During her school days at Garderobe, Haruka was a member of the Trias, which consisted of the top three performing Pearl Otome, and she was a classmate of the elegant and skilled Shizuru Viola.
In personality, Haruka is defined by her headstrong, aggressive, and impulsive nature. She is a straightforward and fair-minded individual who prefers to charge headfirst into any situation rather than wait or strategize. This recklessness is a recurring trait, often causing her to speak without thinking and mispronounce common words. As a result, her master, Yukino, or other subordinates have a habit of physically restraining her, often by knocking her unconscious with overly large rocks or a giant wooden hammer. Despite this need for constant control, Haruka possesses an indomitable spirit and a strong sense of honor, embodying her personal creed that being an Otome requires "strength, skill, and guts."
Haruka's primary motivation is her unwavering loyalty and devotion to Yukino Chrysant. While their relationship is a reversal of their dynamic in a previous story, with Haruka now serving as the fierce protector and Yukino as the calm leader, it is built on deep, lifelong trust. Haruka also holds a friendly but competitive rivalry with Shizuru Viola, a dynamic that carries over from their shared history as students. She also serves as an early role model for the protagonist, Arika Yumemiya. When a falling spaceship threatens the arena, Haruka arrives to save Arika and the crowd, tossing the vessel aside with her bare hands and inspiring Arika with words of encouragement.
Throughout the story, Haruka's role is that of a powerful ally and a reliable combatant. Her development is subtle but consistent, as she remains a loyal and effective fighter during the defense of Garderobe alongside other Otome. Her aggressive tendencies are never truly cured but are managed by Yukino, who learns that increasingly larger methods of blunt-force restraint are needed to stop her. A notable running gag is that Haruka develops a high tolerance for these hits, with Yukino commenting that such impacts are no longer sufficient to knock her out.
As a fighter, Haruka's abilities are focused on raw power and brute force. Her Element is a large ball and chain mace, a weapon she wielded with impressive strength and proficiency. She is highly skilled in both attacking and defending with it, using her aggressive momentum to overwhelm opponents. Her signature attack is known as the Dynamite Crusher, where she hurls her mace with tremendous force. In alternative versions of the story, such as in the manga, Haruka is depicted as a low-ranking member of the Windbloom police force who has a dislike for Otome but uses heavy artillery to fight, and she eventually encounters an alternate version of herself from another timeline who acts as a subservient counterpart to Yukino.
