Description
Uzumasa Shioizumi, known in Asura Cryin' 2 simply as the old man Shioizumi, is a minor supporting character. He is an elderly Japanese man with grey or white hair and brown eyes, and he serves as the owner of the run-down boarding house known as Meiou-tei, which becomes the home of the protagonist Tomoharu Natsume early in the story. Shioizumi is also the grandfather of Kanade Takatsuki, one of the central heroines of the series, which places him within the family circle connected to the demon-related events of the narrative. His personal passion is scrollwork, indicating an appreciation for traditional Japanese craftsmanship. His household includes his college-student granddaughter, Ritsu Shioizumi, who helps him with practical tasks; together they provide behind-the-scenes support to the main characters, including assisting with repairs to machinery and prosthetics used by some of the cast.
In the story, Shioizumi functions primarily as a quiet background presence rather than an active participant in the supernatural and political conflicts that drive the plot. His role is defined by his ownership of Meiou-tei, which gives him an indirect custodianship over the main characters' daily lives, and by his family tie to Kanade. He is presented as an unassuming elderly man whose observable traits are his fondness for scrollwork and his connection to his granddaughter and granddaughter-in-law's family. The anime does not give him any notable combat abilities, supernatural powers, or significant personal development; his importance lies in anchoring the domestic setting and linking the main cast through his familial relationships.
