Description
Myouga is a male flea yokai who serves as a source of information and occasional comic relief in InuYasha: The Final Act. He originally served Inuyasha's father, Toga, as a retainer. After Toga's death, Myouga was entrusted with protecting the location of the Tessaiga, the sword hidden in Toga's grave. When Sesshomaru began searching for the sword, Myouga sought out Inuyasha to ensure the weapon did not fall into the wrong hands. Following this, he became a servant and informant for Inuyasha, offering knowledge on current events, enemies, and the fragments of the Shikon Jewel.

Myouga's personality is defined by extreme cowardice; he flees at the first hint of danger and often avoids direct combat. Despite this, he remains loyal to Inuyasha and the group, providing valuable intelligence when circumstances are safe. His primary motivation is self-preservation, but he also feels a sense of duty inherited from his service to Toga. He is knowledgeable about many types of yokai and can identify and explain the abilities of unfamiliar demons, which proves useful to the group's quest.

His role in the story is that of a supporting character who appears randomly to deliver updates, warnings, or background information. He does not participate in battles but occasionally performs a unique service: because he is a flea, he can drink the blood of others. This ability allows him to save Inuyasha's life on one occasion by sucking poison from his bloodstream. He can also remove venom from other characters if necessary. Myouga is small, easily mistaken for a common insect, and often gets slapped away by Inuyasha or Kagome when he bites them to drink their blood. Because he is immortal, such treatment does not harm him.

Key relationships include his connection to Inuyasha, whom he serves as a vassal, though their interactions are often marked by Inuyasha's impatience and Myouga's nervousness. He also has ties to Totosai, the swordsmith, with whom he maintains a friendship and occasionally stays. His encounters with Sesshomaru are tense, as Sesshomaru originally sought the Tessaiga and Myouga fled in fear. Within the group, Myouga usually travels by riding on Inuyasha or on the nekomata Kirara, though he frequently disappears and reappears at unexpected moments.

In terms of development, Myouga undergoes little change over the course of The Final Act. He remains consistent in his cowardice and loyalty, continuing to serve as a lookout and informant. His deep knowledge of yokai lore and his lack of physical strength define his limited but useful role. He does not evolve as a fighter or gain new abilities; his primary strength lies in his historical awareness and his blood-drinking ability, which has practical applications in removing poisons. His immortality ensures that he persists despite the dangers he avoids, and he ultimately chooses to remain with Totosai after the final conflict, marking a continuation of his service-oriented lifestyle rather than a transformation.
