Description
Ryo Shishido is a third-year Hyotei Academy student, standing 172 cm tall and weighing 60 kg. Born September 29 with blood type B, he is right-handed. His tennis gear includes a YONEX SRQ Titan 800 Pro racquet and YONEX Power Cushion 199 shoes. A counter puncher known as the "Dash Specialist," his speed allows him to return nearly any shot. He developed the "Rising Counter," striking the ball immediately after the bounce to leverage his agility.

Following a decisive 6-0 loss to Kippei Tachibana in the Tokyo Prefectural quarterfinals that cost him his regular position, Shishido cut his long hair as a symbol of dedication to reinventing his game. Rigorous training with Chotaro Ohtori restored his regular status and forged a formidable doubles partnership. Together, they defeated Seigaku’s "Golden Pair" (Kikumaru and Oishi) 7-6 (9-7) in the Nationals quarterfinals.

Shishido possesses a fierce aversion to losing and a relentless work ethic, valuing hard-earned achievements and sacrifices like his haircut. Initially resistant to acknowledging Atobe Keigo as captain, he gained respect for him after a 2-vs-1 match defeat, eventually becoming a staunch supporter. His bond with Ohtori is exceptionally close, built on mutual trust and collaboration extending beyond tennis.

Invited to the Japan U-17 Training Camp after Nationals, Shishido partnered with Ohtori in an initial doubles tie-break but lost 9-7. This relegated him to mountain training under the Drunken Coach, enduring challenges like escaping eagles attracted to scent-laden balloons. He progressed to Court 2 after this training. During the "Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of Future" OVA, Shishido competed in Singles 3 against Yagyuu Hiroshi. Facing Yagyuu’s "reflection laser" technique, he utilized tactical input from Ohtori on the sidelines, remarking to Yagyuu about a doubles partner always being "in the heart." He secured a 7-6 victory by adapting his tenacity to counter Yagyuu’s strategy.

Off court, Shishido dislikes geometry and English conversation, preferring geography and history. He frequents the school store and infirmary, enjoys billiards and bowling (high score: 272), and plays poker. His hobbies include reading in convenience stores and walking his dog. He spends his allowance on CDs and magazines, favoring Western rock music, Star Wars films, and cheese sandwiches. He seeks "rare jeans" and prefers "cocky, tomboyish" girls, with theme parks as his ideal date spot. His motto is "Never give up."
