Mena's career in voice acting spans several decades, with early roles dating back to the 1980s, though his more prominent and frequent appearances began in the late 2000s and 2010s. He is often credited under his full name, Héctor Christopher Mena Urbina. His body of work demonstrates considerable versatility, encompassing protagonists, antagonists, and supporting characters in various genres.

Among his most recognized roles is the protagonist Izuku Midoriya in the animated film My Hero Academia: Two Heroes. He also voiced the character Momonga in the first four seasons of the popular isekai series Overlord. Another significant early role was Koga, the wolf demon leader, in both the original InuYasha series and its sequel, InuYasha: The Final Act.
