Description
Griffon Minos is a central antagonist in the eighteenth-century Holy War, serving as one of the three Judges of Hell and commanding the army of the god Hades. He is a young man of 23 years, standing 184 cm tall, with long white hair that reaches his waist, pale grey eyes, and fair skin. His nationality is Norwegian, hailing from Oslo, and his star sign is Aries.

Minos holds the title of Heavenly Lofty Star and wears the Surplice of the Griffon, a mythical creature symbolizing dominion over both earth and sky. As one of the most powerful Specters in Hades' army, his cosmos and combat speed are considered equal to or greater than those of the Gold Saints, Athena's mightiest warriors. His official duties as a judge include condemning new arrivals to the Underworld based on their deeds in life, though during the Holy War, this responsibility is temporarily delegated to his subordinate, Balron Lune. In The Lost Canvas, Minos is shown updating death records in the first prison of the Underworld with the help of his assistant Anna, demonstrating a methodical and organized side to his role.

Minos possesses a deeply sadistic and cruel personality, taking genuine pleasure in dominating and destroying exceptional fighters. He typically maintains a calm, calculating demeanor, but this composure masks a pronounced capacity for rage, arrogance, and impulsive cruelty. He is known for his sarcastic and ironic remarks, often taunting his opponents while demonstrating his overwhelming power. His heartlessness is notably displayed when he merely laughs upon learning that his fellow Specters have fallen into a deadly trap set by the Gold Saint Albafica of Pisces, showing no concern for their loss. This same sadistic pleasure is evident when he tortures the Gold Saint Gemini Kanon in the modern era, gleefully breaking his fingers one by one with his cosmic strings.

What makes Minos a unique figure among the Specters is his motivation for loyalty. Rather than serving the god Hades directly, he becomes fascinated by the human Alone, who serves as Hades' host. Observing Alone's transformation from a divine puppet into someone capable of manipulating a god, Minos becomes intrigued and swears allegiance to the young man of his own free will, wanting to witness whether Alone can truly succeed in his ambitions. This decision aligns him with a select few Specters, such as Kagaho of Bennu, who also choose to follow Alone rather than the god directly.

In the story of The Lost Canvas, Minos is selected to lead a critical invasion of the Sanctuary of Athena. His path is blocked by Albafica of Pisces, who has laid a vast garden of poisonous roses to halt the Specter advance. Minos easily dispatches Albafica's initial defenses, using the massive wings of his Surplice to create a devastating hurricane-like shockwave called Gigantic Feathers Flap to clear the rose field. He then engages Albafica directly, capturing the Gold Saint with his signature technique, Cosmic Marionettion. Using invisible strings made of pure cosmos, Minos manipulates Albafica's body like a marionette, systematically shattering his bones and leaving him for dead.

Presuming the Gold Saint deceased, Minos proceeds toward the nearby village of Rodorio with the intention of slaughtering its inhabitants. There, he is confronted by Aries Shion, another Gold Saint. Shion also falls victim to the Cosmic Marionettion, but before Minos can finish him, Albafica returns, having survived through sheer force of will. The Pisces Saint launches a final, desperate attack: a white rose imbued with his own poisonous blood. The rose strikes Minos in the heart, a fatal wound. Enraged and facing his own death, Minos unleashes his Gigantic Feathers Flap in a final act of spite to destroy Rodorio and everyone in it. However, Shion, having been freed from Minos's control, erects a Crystal Wall that contains the blast, protecting the village. Minos succumbs to the poison of the white rose, dying alongside his adversary Albafica in a mutual kill.

Minos's most notable ability is Cosmic Marionettion, a technique that allows him to create nearly invisible cosmic strings to seize control of an opponent's body. He can manipulate their movements, bend their limbs at grotesque angles, and shatter their bones with a simple gesture, using his foes as living puppets. This technique showcases both his strategic genius and his signature cruelty. Unique to The Lost Canvas incarnation, Minos also wields Gigantic Feathers Flap, a powerful area-of-effect attack generated by beating the wings of his Griffon Surplice. This technique produces a massive burst of destructive energy capable of leveling entire areas and neutralizing widespread threats like Albafica's rose gardens.
