Description
Isami Fujiwara is a twelve-year-old boy living in the present-day timeline of Hakodate and is one of Haruka Kaminogi's close circle of friends. His family situation is marked by loss, as he resides with his older brother Tsuyoshi, younger sister Fumiko, and grandmother following the recent death of both of his parents.

On the surface, Isami projects a tough and scrappy image, but this exterior conceals a more vulnerable interior, as he possesses a notable fear of ghosts. His personality is largely defined as laid-back and grounded, which serves as a natural counterbalance to the angsty and doubtful nature of his best friend, Yuu Gotou. Isami frequently teases Yuu, calling him a "mama's boy" for his studious habits and constant attendance at cram school, a dynamic that underscores their close and familiar bond.

Within the group of friends, Isami shares a significant connection with Ai Hasebe, who harbors a hidden crush on him. Isami initially appears oblivious or uninterested, as he has a noted preference for older women, specifically his teacher Miss Yukie. However, subtle hints throughout the narrative suggest the possibility of his feelings for Ai beginning to grow by the end of the story.

Isami's role in the story is primarily as a supporting friend, but his character gains depth through the exploration of his alternate selves across different timespaces. In one bleak possible future, the death of his grandmother and separation from his siblings leads him down a path to becoming a delinquent. In a violent gang conflict, he loses an eye while trying to protect his friends, who subsequently abandon him out of fear. At his lowest point, armed with a knife and preparing to kill the one who scarred him, he is intercepted by Yuu from the present timeline, who gives him a new purpose by revealing that he is the only one who can save Ai from suicide.

The most prominent alternate version of Isami is Fukurou, a twenty-seven-year-old Dragon Knight from the future timespace of La'cryma. Unlike the tormented Karasu, the future version of Yuu, Fukurou has managed to retain his youthful sense of humor and laid-back demeanor, often living by the motto "Don't worry about it". As a Dragon Knight, Fukurou possesses notable abilities, including the use of a spin weapon that can fire clusters of laser-like projectiles. Physically, he is tall and muscular with a long brown ponytail and a missing eye, a scar from his violent past as a delinquent in his own timeline. As Karasu's best friend and comrade, Fukurou fails a mission to kill him when he is declared a traitor, choosing instead to aid him. His end comes at the hands of the series' antagonist, Noein, but just before his death, he expresses a wish to see the future version of Ai one last time and offers a poignant admonition to Yuu and his younger self to "stay friends".
