Description
Haruka Kaminogi is the central protagonist of the anime. She is a twelve-year-old girl who was born in Tokyo but moved with her mother to the city of Hakodate when she was eight years old, settling into her mother's childhood home. Following her parents' divorce, her surname changed from Mayuzumi to her mother's maiden name, Kaminogi.

In terms of personality, Haruka presents a composed and rational demeanor that is notably mature for her age. She remains calm in critical situations and is generally able to think clearly to find a way out of trouble. Haruka is described as polite and sensitive to the feelings of others, often knowing the right thing to say in a given situation. She can be cheerful, candid, and optimistic, yet she also possesses a quiet strength that allows her to face extraordinary circumstances without panicking. However, beneath her collected exterior, she harbors deep-seated emotional pain. She is very upset by her parents' divorce, a situation she wishes she could change, and she has experienced the grief of losing a beloved grandmother.

Haruka's primary motivation throughout the story stems from her desire to protect her friends and her own reality from outside threats. She is thrust into a conflict that spans multiple dimensions when it is revealed that she is not an ordinary girl but is connected to a mysterious entity known as the Dragon Torc. This power makes her a target for the Dragon Knights from the future dimension of La'cryma and the enigmatic being Noein from Shangri-La, both of whom seek to claim her abilities for their own purposes. Her role in the story is that of the lynchpin upon which the fate of the multiverse rests, as she unknowingly holds the power to decide what exists and what does not.

Her most significant relationship is with her friend Yū Gotō, a classmate who lives nearby and is under intense pressure from his mother to pass entrance exams for a school in Tokyo. She shows deep care for Yū, recognizing his sadness and silence without judgment, which helps draw him out of his depression. This relationship becomes more complex with the arrival of Karasu, a future version of Yū from the dimension of La'cryma who has been sent to find the Dragon Torc. Despite being a grim warrior from a war-torn future, Karasu instead chooses to protect Haruka, and she forms a profound bond with him, recognizing the person he is beneath his hardened exterior. Her relationships are also defined by her interactions with her counterpart from the La'cryma dimension and her friends from school, such as the supernatural enthusiast Miho Mukai.

Throughout the narrative, Haruka undergoes significant development. She begins as a typical elementary school student whose main concern is her friend's well-being and her own family issues. As she is confronted by the reality of parallel worlds and her own central place within the quantum multiverse, she gradually comes to terms with her identity as the Ultimate Observer. Her journey involves learning to understand and control a power that is nearly incomprehensible, moving from a state of unconscious, instinctive use of her abilities to a more active role in determining the fate of all realities. She is forced to confront the source of her power and the loneliness of her unique position, ultimately making conscious choices that affect the entire multiverse.

Haruka possesses extraordinary abilities as the Ultimate Observer, granting her control over quantum probability on a multiversal scale. This effectively allows her to decide what exists and what does not, a power she demonstrates by rejecting the multiversal being Noein from her plane of existence. She is connected to the Dragon Torc, an entity that automatically protects her from harm, even reflecting attacks from powerful beings like Noein. Her capabilities include reality warping, as she can change reality across the entire multiverse and even recreate all of existence. She can manipulate causality, teleport across dimensions, and erase beings from existence by deeming them unworthy to live. As an Observer, she exists in a state of quantum uncertainty, transcending normal causal relationships and existing outside of past, present, and future. A notable ability she demonstrates includes swapping an object from one universe with its counterpart from another, such as when she replaced a dam. Despite her immense cosmic power, a key limitation is that she has the body and mind of a twelve-year-old and initially has little to no conscious control over her abilities, which manifest primarily in moments of intense danger or emotional distress.
