Description
Kazuya Ichinose is a talented midfielder who plays a supporting role in the original Inazuma Eleven story. He has dark brown hair swept to the left side, slightly tanned skin, and black eyes with long eyelashes. Known by titles such as the Field Magician or the Midfield Magician, he is recognized for his exceptional technique and playmaking vision on the pitch.

Originally from Japan, Ichinose moved to America at a young age and grew up playing soccer with his childhood friends Kino Aki and Domon Asuka. His past is marked by a serious car accident that occurred when he tried to retrieve a soccer ball from a street. The injury was severe, and doctors told him he would never be able to play soccer again. Not wanting to burden Aki and Domon with this news, he asked his father to tell them he had died. Through intense rehabilitation and his deep love for soccer, he managed to recover enough to return to Japan earlier than expected, surprising his friends and eventually joining the Raimon Junior High soccer team.

In terms of personality, Aki describes Ichinose as being quite similar to Endou Mamoru. He is a kind, straightforward, and optimistic young person who is easygoing and well-liked by his teammates. A notable quirk is that he often makes mistakes with American sayings, twisting them around, which leads to Aki gently correcting him. Despite his friendly nature off the field, he becomes more serious and focused during soccer games, especially during the international arc.

Throughout the story, Ichinose forms several key relationships. His bond with childhood friends Aki and Domon is central to his character. He shares a strong mutual trust with Domon, making them a formidable duo on the field. There are subtle hints of a possible romantic connection with Aki, though their relationship remains primarily platonic with geographic distance separating their life paths. He develops a deep admiration and friendship with Endou, appreciating his leadership and sharing his unwavering passion for soccer. During the second season, he attracts the attention of Rika, who becomes infatuated with him and persistently calls him Darling, though he does not reciprocate her feelings in the same way.

Ichinose plays a significant role across multiple story arcs. In the first season, he joins Raimon and helps recreate the combination technique Tri-Pegasus alongside Endou and Domon, which later evolves into The Phoenix. He remains with Raimon during the second season to face the Aliea Gakuen teams, even developing new techniques like Flame Dance to counter the opposition. In the third season, during the Football Frontier International arc, he and Domon leave to represent the United States as members of the national team Unicorn. His personal motivation is to help establish soccer as a prominent sport in America while fulfilling his dream of competing at the highest level.

The lingering effects of his childhood accident become a major focus in the third season. It is revealed that his injury never fully healed and that playing could permanently end his career. Despite needing surgery, he chooses to play against Inazuma Japan, scoring two goals with Pegasus Shot and Gran Fenrir before collapsing from the strain. After being substituted, he expresses deep satisfaction at having played such a memorable match against Endou. Following surgery, which is successful, he recovers and returns to soccer, later participating in a reunion match with the original Raimon team.

Ichinose possesses a wide array of notable abilities. His solo techniques include Spinning Shoot, a move where he spins while performing a handstand to lift and strike the ball; Flame Dance, a defensive block that conjures a veil of flames to steal the ball; and Pegasus Shot, a powerful shot that summons a blue pegasus behind the ball. His combination techniques are equally impressive. With Endou and Domon, he performs Tri-Pegasus and its evolved form The Phoenix. With Kidou Yuuto, he can execute Twin Boost, and with Gouenji and Fubuki, he participates in Koutei Penguin 2gou. While playing for Unicorn, he also uses Gran Fenrir, a combination shot with teammates Mark Kruger and Dylan. His skills as a midfielder allow him to control the flow of the game, predict opponent movements, and coordinate offensive plays effectively, solidifying his reputation as a magician on the field.
