TV-Series
Description
Kazuya Hatta is a supporting character in the anime. He is a classmate of the protagonist, Kyosuke Kasuga, and is best known as one half of a comedic duo with his close friend, Seiji Komatsu. Both students are in the same class and are characterized by their preoccupation with girls and their often bumbling, hormone-driven schemes. Hatta is present for many of the everyday events at school, providing a source of humor that is typical of teenage hijinks, even if their behavior can be seen as exaggerated or insufferable from an adult perspective. His role in the story is largely functional, serving as comic relief and an accelerator for the plot. For instance, he and Komatsu are often the source of school rumors or get involved in schemes that create situations for the main characters to navigate. Despite not being central to the main romantic plot, they are a consistent presence throughout the television series, appearing in a significant number of episodes. Hatta's key relationships are primarily with his fellow student Komatsu, as they are almost always seen together, and with Kyosuke, who is their friend and often the unwitting straight man to their antics. The duo also shows a persistent, though generally unsuccessful, interest in Kyosuke's younger twin sisters, Manami and Kurumi. In terms of development, Hatta does not undergo a significant personal arc. His personality and behavior remain largely static throughout the series, which aligns with his purpose as a consistent source of secondary, comedic conflict. He has no notable supernatural or unique abilities, as the series reserves those traits for the Kasuga family. His primary function is social, existing to add levity and a sense of normal, chaotic teenage life to the story.
