TV-Series
Description
Arisa Uotani, often called Uo-chan by her closest friends, is a tall, striking young woman who stands approximately 168.5 centimeters. She typically wears her long blonde or light brown hair in a low ponytail or with bangs covering one eye, and is known for her unique fashion choices, such as wearing her school skirt long and painting her nails purple. Her appearance often hints at her tough past, and she has been known to carry a lead pipe, a relic from her days as a delinquent.

Arisa's background is marked by hardship and a significant personal transformation. As a child, her mother left the family for another man, a departure that caused her father to turn to alcohol and neglect his parental duties. This profound loneliness and anger led her down a troubled path, and she joined an all-girl biker gang in the fifth grade. During her time as a gang member, she became a devoted follower of the legendary and feared gang leader Kyoko Honda, known as the Red Butterfly. Her life took a turn when she discovered that Kyoko's daughter, Tohru Honda, attended her middle school. Initially disappointed to find that the shy and gentle Tohru was nothing like her mother's fearsome reputation, Arisa's perspective shifted after a violent gang incident left her injured. Tohru found her and brought her home, where she experienced genuine kindness and familial warmth from Tohru and Kyoko for the first time. With Kyoko's help, Arisa found the courage to leave her gang, surviving a severe beating as punishment. This experience cemented her bond with the Honda family and inspired her to rebuild her life. She later reconciled with her father, who also worked to overcome his alcoholism.

Arisa has a tough, brash, and fiercely loyal personality. She is depicted as the direct and protective father figure in her friendship group, contrasting with the more motherly demeanor of her friend Saki Hanajima. Despite her rough exterior, which includes speaking in a masculine manner and a short temper, she is deeply sentimental and easily moved to tears by heartfelt or touching moments. Her primary motivation is to honor the memory of Kyoko Honda, who saved her from a life of delinquency. Alongside Saki, she swore on Kyoko's grave to always protect Tohru, and she dedicates herself to ensuring her friend's happiness and safety, often using her intimidating presence to ward off those who would bully her.

Arisa plays a crucial role as one of Tohru Honda's two best friends and protectors. Her key relationships are central to her character. Her bond with Tohru is her most important; she is unwavering in her loyalty and sees Tohru as family. She is also a vital part of a trio with the psychic Saki Hanajima, with whom she shares a deep mutual respect and a common goal of guarding Tohru. She has a competitive and bickering friendship with Kyo Sohma, often teasing him and engaging in friendly fights, which has led to humorous misunderstandings about them being a couple. Later in the story, she develops a significant romantic relationship with Kureno Sohma. She meets the much older Kureno while working at a convenience store and is immediately drawn to his polite and kind nature. Despite the nine-year age gap and his initial reluctance due to his complicated obligations to the Sohma family head, Akito, Arisa patiently waits for him. When Kureno finally frees himself from his past, Arisa is there to help him move forward, and they begin a life together.

Throughout the series, Arisa undergoes considerable character development. She transforms from a lost and angry delinquent into a responsible, hardworking young woman who holds down multiple part-time jobs and cares for her father. Her journey is one of healing, showing how the love and guidance of Kyoko and Tohru allowed her to channel her fierce loyalty and strength into protecting others rather than destroying herself. As for notable abilities, beyond her physical toughness and experience in fighting from her gang days, her greatest strength lies in her commanding presence and fearless determination. She is not afraid to confront anyone who threatens her friends, using her reputation and forceful personality to intimidate others. She is also surprisingly hardworking and responsible, managing her work and studies after reforming her life.
