Ali Al-Saachez is a central antagonist in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, a man of Middle Eastern descent whose life is defined by an unquenchable thirst for conflict and violence. He began his career as the leader of the KPSA, a brutal guerrilla organization in the war-torn Republic of Kurgis, where he committed heinous acts including the brainwashing of child soldiers. He indoctrinated young boys to commit murder as proof of devotion, most notoriously forcing a young Soran Ibrahim to kill his own parents—an act that would haunt the boy who later became the Gundam Meister Setsuna F. Seiei. Saachez also orchestrated a terrorist bombing in Ireland that killed the family of Neil and Lyle Dylandy. After the KPSA was disbanded, he became a freelance mercenary, a profession perfectly suited to his nature. He is not driven by ideology, money, or power, but by the sheer visceral joy of combat itself, taking open pleasure in chaos and suffering. In the first season, he operates as a rogue agent, working for the PMC Trust and later for the Celestial Being traitor Alejandro Corner. He instigates a civil war in the Kingdom of Azadistan, murders journalist Kinue Crossroad, steals the GNW-002 Gundam Throne Zwei, and eliminates the Trinity siblings before dealing a mortal blow to Lockon Stratos (Neil Dylandy). By the second season, Saachez aligns with the Innovators and pilots the custom GNW-20000 Arche Gundam, a close-combat machine equipped with GN Fangs and a massive GN Buster Sword. He destroys the entire kingdom of Azadistan as a show of force and continues to torment his former student, Setsuna F. Seiei. His key relationships are defined by destruction: he views Setsuna as a proud accomplishment to be toyed with, while the Dylandy brothers harbor a deep vengeful hatred for him. Saachez remains a remarkably static character, showing no redemption or doubt; his only evolution is an escalation in power and opportunity. His end comes when Lyle Dylandy, unlike his brother, is able to pull the trigger, killing Saachez with a single shot to the head. He is a master manipulator, a highly skilled unarmed combatant, and one of the most naturally gifted mobile suit pilots in the series, capable of holding his own against multiple Gundams simultaneously.
