Description
Aeolia Schenberg is the visionary scientist and founder of the private paramilitary organization Celestial Being. Born in the year 2051, he was a preeminent genius in the fields of physics and engineering who foresaw the energy crisis that would result from the depletion of fossil fuels. To solve this, he proposed the theoretical basis for a combined orbital elevator and solar power generation system, a revolutionary concept he detailed in a dissertation around the year 2090. This system would eventually become the foundation of the world's energy supply by the 24th century. Recognizing that his ideas were far ahead of the available technology, he also anticipated the need for humanoid construction and defense machines, a concept that would later evolve into the mobile suits of the future.

Schenberg's primary motivation was the complete eradication of armed conflict, a goal he believed was essential for humanity's survival and progress. He held a deep-seated belief that the misuse of knowledge and the inability to understand one another were the root causes of war and suffering. He did not hate humanity but rather despaired at its foolishness and its tendency to repeat cycles of conflict. His ultimate vision extended far beyond merely stopping wars on Earth. He devised a grand, multi-generational plan to prepare humanity for a future encounter with extraterrestrial intelligence, believing that a divided and warring species would not be ready for such a dialogue. This plan was structured in three primary phases: the forceful unification of the world's nations under a single government, the subsequent unification of human consciousness through the emergence of a new breed of human known as Innovators, and finally, the use of that unified understanding to initiate peaceful dialogue with other intelligent life forms.

To execute this centuries-spanning plan, Schenberg established Celestial Being and developed its core technologies in secret. He was responsible for the creation of the original GN Drives, semi-perpetual energy sources that produced unique GN Particles, which he discovered could transmit consciousness and enable deeper understanding between individuals. He also built Veda, a massive quantum computing system of immense power that would serve as the repository for his plan and the tactical brain for Celestial Being. To oversee the initial stages of his plan, Schenberg placed himself into a state of cryogenic preservation within the Veda terminal hidden on the moon, intending to awaken when his dream of a peaceful world was realized.

Schenberg's role in the story is that of a remote and enigmatic architect. Although he appears to have died in the distant past, his presence is felt constantly through the technology he created and the plan he set in motion. He appears publicly for the first time in a pre-recorded message broadcast to the world in 2307, announcing the existence of Celestial Being and its mission to forcibly intervene in all acts of war. He remains a shadowy figure, with most of the world knowing little about him. His direct involvement in the plot occurs when his cryogenic chamber is discovered. The Celestial Being traitor Alejandro Corner, acting on the ambitions of the renegade Innovade Ribbons Almark, finds and fatally shoots Schenberg. As Schenberg dies, his life signs ceasing, it activates a predetermined system trap within Veda. This trap grants the Celestial Being Gundams access to the Trans-Am system, which releases the full power of their GN Drives, and provides the activation codes for the Twin Drive system, a contingency for the future. His final words expressed his disappointment that his dream had not been realized but affirmed his continued faith in humanity and his hope that they would change.

Schenberg's key relationships are primarily defined by his creations and those who either carry out or betray his will. Veda is the custodian of his legacy, designed to monitor the world and guide Celestial Being. The Innovades, artificial humanoids created to assist his plan, are his biological tools, with Ribbons Almark being the most significant. Ribbons, originally meant to guide humanity towards becoming Innovators, instead rebelled against his purpose, used Corner to kill Schenberg, and hijacked his plan for world domination. In contrast, the Gundam Meister Tieria Erde, also an Innovade, remains loyal to Schenberg's true ideals and ultimately fulfills his wish by merging with Veda to ensure the plan's continuation. The ordinary humans who inherit Schenberg's technology and fight against the corrupted version of his plan, such as Setsuna F. Seiei, become the true inheritors of his will.

The character undergoes no personal development in the present timeline, as he is killed shortly after being revived from his cryogenic sleep. However, his legacy and plan develop significantly as the story progresses. The idealistic plan he conceived is first corrupted by Ribbons and Corner, who use the second phase as a pretext for brutal oppression with the A-Laws. It is only through the actions of the reborn Celestial Being that his original vision is eventually restored. In the final film, the ultimate goal of his plan is realized when the Innovator Setsuna F. Seiei achieves a dialogue with the alien ELS, proving the validity of Schenberg's centuries-old dream of preparing humanity for contact with extraterrestrial life.

Schenberg possesses no physical combat abilities but is an intellectual giant. His notable abilities lie in his extraordinary foresight and his genius in multiple scientific disciplines. He developed the foundational theories for orbital elevators, solar energy, and the GN Drive. He also created Veda, a quantum supercomputer of unmatched capability, and designed the complex, self-correcting plan that could function for over two hundred years. His greatest ability was his capacity to anticipate failure, as evidenced by the system trap that activated upon his death, ensuring that his true plan had a chance to survive even its creators' betrayal.
