Walter Cruz is a prolific Brazilian voice actor with a career spanning several decades, known for his extensive work in dubbing anime, live-action series, and films for the Brazilian Portuguese market. Born on November 2, 1942, he began his career in the entertainment industry as an on-screen actor in 1963 at the age of 21 before transitioning to radio in 1966 and then to voice announcing in 1975. It was in 1989, at the age of 44, that he began his work as a dubbing artist, a field in which he has since become highly prominent.

Cruz's filmography is exceptionally vast, encompassing a wide array of characters across numerous popular anime series. He is recognized for his versatility in portraying characters of various ages and temperaments, from wise mentors and authority figures to more enigmatic roles. Among his many notable anime credits are the roles of Fluder Paradyne in Overlord III, Tsukuyomi in Bright: Samurai Soul, Pai Imperial/Tori-San in Harlock: Space Pirate, and Jii in Yona Yona Penguin. He also voiced the Gym Leader Drayden in both Pokémon: Black and White and Pokémon: Black and White: Rival Destinies.

His career features several recurring roles in long-running and influential series. He is the voice of Wanyuudou, a companion of the Hell Girl, in both Hell Girl and Hell Girl: Two Mirrors. In the massive One Piece franchise, he has voiced multiple characters over the years, including Monkey D. Dragon in older dubs, as well as Wander Decken, and the Gorosei members Saint Shepard Ju Peter and Saint Marcus Mars. He also contributed to the Naruto series as Musou and Bansai, and to Bleach as Hachigen "Hachi" Ushouda. His work extends to the Dragon Ball franchise, where he has voiced Dr. Briefs in Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', and to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, taking on roles such as Dominic and Hakuro.

Cruz's voice is also familiar to audiences beyond the world of anime. He is the Portuguese voice of Dr. Nowzaradan, the bariatric surgeon from the reality television show My 600-lb Life, known in Brazil as Quilos Mortais. This role has brought his voice to a wide audience outside of animation.
