Description
Fluder Paradyne is the Imperial Court Wizard of the Baharuth Empire, Headmaster of the Imperial Magic Academy, and Overseer of the Ministry of Magic in Arwintar. Recognized as the Empire's strongest wizard, his power rivals the legendary Thirteen Heroes, and he has safeguarded the nation from monsters and calamities for over two centuries. His efforts to centralize imperial power and transform the Empire into a magical force span six generations of emperors.

He presents as a short elderly man with deep wrinkles, snow-white hair, and a long beard, wearing a loose white robe, a necklace of multiple crystal orbs, and numerous magical rings. An imperfect immortality ritual earlier in life slowed, but did not halt, his physical aging.

Fluder balances a saintly, respected public image with an all-consuming obsession for magical knowledge. Outwardly polite and disinterested in politics, he prioritizes magic above loyalty to the Empire or its emperors. He harbors jealousy toward those with greater magical potential, like the Thirteen Heroes, and regrets lacking a true mentor. Upon encountering individuals surpassing his power, he discards dignity and allegiance without hesitation to pursue deeper magical understanding.

Born in Belmous Village, his fascination with magic ignited after meeting a spellcaster there. Denied a magical item in Eryuentiu, this fueled his envy of the Thirteen Heroes and his desire to surpass Rigrit. Joining the Baharuth Empire, he became instrumental in its stability, tutoring emperors and advising on governance. His research includes experiments on undead labor for agriculture, facing priestly opposition over blasphemy claims. He captured a Death Knight in the Katze Plains but repeatedly failed to control it.

Key events include learning of Ainz Ooal Gown's existence and expressing eagerness to meet a potential equal or superior. Encountering Momon (Ainz) and Nabe in the Empire, their removal of magic-suppressing rings revealed their true power tiers. Sensing Momon's tenth-tier magic—far beyond his own sixth-tier capabilities—Fluder prostrated himself, declared Momon the "God of Magic," and pledged unwavering loyalty. He betrayed Emperor Jircniv by fabricating intelligence about Nazarick's location, triggering the worker invasion of the Great Tomb. He later accompanied Jircniv to Nazarick, reacting with euphoric awe at its power, further solidifying his loyalty to Ainz.

After Jircniv discovered his betrayal, Fluder lost imperial lands and influence but retained his title as head magician. Ainz assigned him to compile geopolitical records for the Sorcerer Kingdom, gifting him the Book of the Dead as a reward. Fluder accepted a future role overseeing magical research in the Sorcerer Kingdom but remained in the Empire temporarily at Ainz's request. He researched runes for Ainz, providing limited information on the Dwarf Kingdom due to historical dragon attacks erasing most runic knowledge.

Fluder's abilities center on his title "Triad Magic Caster," denoting unique mastery of sixth-tier magic across three schools. He possesses a talent to sense others' magic tiers. His spells include modified rituals for undead control, anti-aging prohibitions, fireball, fly, and reading magic for translation. He has trained over thirty disciples, with his top students reaching fourth-tier magic proficiency.

He shared a familial bond with Emperor Jircniv, who called him "Grandpa" while he used the nickname "Jil." Despite this closeness, he sacrificed their trust for Ainz's knowledge. He reveres Ainz as his ultimate teacher, viewing service to Nazarick as a path to magical transcendence.

Fluder's enrollment at the Imperial Magic Academy as a student caused intense discomfort among peers and instructors. His presence stifled classroom interactions, with teachers avoiding questions and students fearing expulsion over minor mistakes. During a promotional examination, he joined a student group for field testing, leveraging his power for their safety amid monster threats.
