Description
Mireille is a supporting character in.hack//Legend of the Twilight, appearing within the fictional MMORPG known as The World. She is a Wavemaster class player who specializes in magical support and is known among players as a rare item hunter, or “The Rare Item Hunter of Love and Justice.” Her driving motivation is to collect anything with the word “rare” in its description, a pursuit she approaches with obsessive enthusiasm. She possesses an uncanny ability to sense rare items, almost as if by smell, and she owns a rare item that functions as both a storage container and a hideout. However, she holds a strict ethical code: she despises hackers who create counterfeit rare items, believing that true rare hunters must earn their finds legitimately.
In the real world, Mireille is a four-year-old girl named Mirei, the daughter of Mistral, a character from the earlier.hack PlayStation 2 games. Mistral was pregnant with Mireille during those games and eventually quit The World; later, she passed her character data to her daughter, who continued playing under the modified name Mireille. Despite her very young age, Mireille is described as a child prodigy with an exceptionally high intelligence. Her in-game appearance reflects a short, youthful avatar with maroon hair and pink eyes, often wearing a hat, ribbon, or bow.
Mireille first encounters the twin protagonists Shugo and Rena after being drawn to their rare, limited-edition character models and Shugo’s mysterious Twilight Bracelet. She introduces herself and offers to help them level up quickly in exchange for any rare items they might find. Over time, her relationship with the twins evolves from a transactional arrangement into genuine friendship, though she maintains a playful, sometimes exasperated dynamic with them. She frequently partners with Ouka, another member of the group; in real life, Ouka is Mireille’s tutor, adding a layer of personal connection to their in-game teamwork.
As the story progresses, Mireille’s role shifts from a self‑centered loot seeker to a loyal and dependable ally. She uses her deep knowledge of The World’s lore to help the group outmaneuver antagonists such as the Cobalt Knights, and she willingly prioritizes the safety of her friends over her own treasure‑hunting desires. In the manga storyline, she ultimately parts ways with Shugo and Rena at the Net Slums, bidding them farewell as they proceed to meet Aura. Though her obsession with rare items remains a defining trait, her personal growth highlights a move toward selflessness and camaraderie, making her a warm and optimistic presence within the party.
