Movie
Description
Kahiko is an elderly man who appears in Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel. He serves as the leader of a wandering caravan and is a descendant of the miners who originally worked the source of the Stone of Gelel.

Kahiko is among the few individuals who know the true history of his ancestors and the many secrets surrounding the Stone of Gelel. He has dedicated his life to protecting the location and secrets of the Gelel vein from those who would misuse its power. He leads a caravan of fellow descendants, which includes his granddaughter, Emina.

In terms of personality, Kahiko is defined by his strong sense of duty and care for others. He is deeply worried when his companion, a ferret named Nerugui who is precious to the group, goes missing. He is also kind and charitable, as demonstrated when he welcomes strangers like Naruto and Temujin into his caravan and tends to their injuries without hesitation. His commitment to protecting the world from the Gelel vein is absolute; knowing its terrible powers, he tries to persuade the young knight Temujin to abandon his quest for it. Failing that, Kahiko proves himself prepared to sacrifice his own life to destroy the entire vein, showing he values duty above personal survival. However, he also shows genuine concern for the well-being of others, particularly when Temujin ultimately volunteers to sacrifice himself to seal the vein away.

Kahiko has a distinctive appearance. He is an elderly man with a bulbous red nose, neck-length white hair, a short moustache, and a long white beard. He typically wears a brown tunic over a black under-shirt with red sleeves, and a blue fez-like hat adorned with a pink feather. He also carries a katar as a weapon.

In the story, Kahiko's journey begins when his ferret companion Nerugui goes missing, prompting him to hire ninja from Konoha to help find the animal. After Temujin is captured by these ninja, Kahiko reveals to the young knight the history of the Gelel stone and a crucial secret: Temujin is a member of the royal bloodline that possesses the unique ability to control and seal the vein. Temujin then breaks free and takes a hostage, forcing Kahiko to lead the way to the Gelel vein. Upon arriving at the site, Kahiko immediately insists the vein must be destroyed and takes Temujin to the sealing room. When Temujin remains determined to use the power instead, Kahiko stabs him to draw his royal blood and attempts to summon a space-time hole to annihilate the vein, himself, and Temujin, but is disarmed by the film's antagonist, Haido. Later, Kahiko reveals that Haido was the one who attacked Temujin's village in search of the Gelel vein, helping Temujin realize his mistakes. After Haido is defeated, the key to the mine is destroyed, causing the vein to go out of control with the potential to destroy half the continent. Kahiko then explains that the space-time hole seal is the only way to destroy the vein. Temujin knocks Naruto unconscious and asks Kahiko to take the young ninja to safety while he stays behind to use his life to perform the seal, an act Kahiko is initially prepared to do himself. In the end, after Naruto rescues Temujin, Kahiko is there to greet them both.

A key relationship for Kahiko is with his granddaughter, Emina, for whom he is responsible as the leader of their caravan. He also shares a close bond with his pet ferret, Nerugui. His relationship with Temujin is central to the plot; he acts as a mentor figure trying to guide the young knight away from darkness, and his willingness to sacrifice himself is mirrored by Temujin's later decision.

Kahiko's notable abilities are not related to ninja combat but to his ancient knowledge. He knows the secret location of the Gelel vein and understands the rituals required to control it. He is capable of activating an ancient sealing mechanism that requires the royal blood of Temujin's line to summon a powerful space-time hole, which can annihilate the entire unstable Gelel vein.
