TV-Series
Description
Alvin Lutz, often called by his nickname Al, is a supporting character in Blassreiter. Physically, he is distinguished by his white, upside-down bobbed hairstyle and a unique barcode-shaped tattoo that runs from his right cheek to his nose. He serves as a sniper for the second team of the XAT, a special task force formed to combat the Demoniac threat. Prior to his time with the XAT, he was a member of the elite German police unit GSG-9, indicating a high level of training and experience even before the series begins. His weapon of choice is an anti-armor rifle, reflecting his specialization in long-range, high-powered combat.
On the surface, Alvin presents the demeanor of a picky and mischievous individual, often seeming laid-back and carefree compared to his more stoic colleagues. However, this behavior is largely a calculated act. His underlying personality is not eccentric; instead, he deliberately plays the role of the joker to restrain and balance the more hot-blooded and prone-to-runaway members of his team. Beneath this facade lies a person with a very deep sense of camaraderie and loyalty. He is not one for soft praise, offering sharp, critical advice to his teammates whether they fail or succeed on a mission, but this is his way of pushing them to improve. This profound loyalty is most evident in his actions, as he does not hesitate to risk his own life to protect a colleague in danger. He is a close friend and partner to Bradley Guilford, a relationship that predates their service in the XAT.
Alvin’s role in the story evolves significantly following his infection by the nanomachines that create Demoniacs. Upon realizing he has been infected, he makes a resolute decision to use his remaining time as a human to protect those who are not yet infected, specifically Amanda Werner and Hermann Saltza. He fights to the death alongside his partner Bradley against their former commander, Wolf Goering, and dies a hero. However, his story does not end there. He is later revived as a Demoniac after receiving Wolf Goering's blood, becoming a type of Blassreiter known as a Relaier. In this resurrected state, he initially serves Wolf, his memories of the betrayal at XAT headquarters suppressed, and is used as a powerful sniper to shoot down fuel vapor bombs and drive Amanda and Hermann into a trap. His development culminates in a moment of regained self-awareness. Seeing the word for bond or jade inscribed on Amanda's Paladin triggers his memories. Remembering the truth of his death and the betrayal of his commander, he turns on Wolf, uttering his signature line, "I will not forgive you even in death," before shooting him in the head to stop his movements. Having fulfilled his purpose and reclaimed his identity, Alvin ultimately chooses to end his own existence, using his beloved sniper rifle to take his own life as he watches the rising sun, leaving only the weapon behind for his friends to find.
As a fighter, Alvin's notable abilities are centered on his marksmanship. As a human, he is the XAT's best sniper, providing critical support from the rear with his anti-armor rifle. After his transformation into a Demoniac, his sniping abilities become even more formidable. His armor is dark purple with curved horns on his head and a single large yellow eye. His rifle becomes directly linked to his right arm, taking on a bio-mechanical appearance that allows for deadly, precision shots that can minimize damage to allies while eliminating threats. He is a character defined by deep loyalty, a sacrifice for his comrades, and a final, powerful reclamation of his own will.
