Description
Miyako Sakashita is the mother of the young girl Yuzuyu in the series Aishiteruze Baby. Following the death of her husband, Miyako is overcome with grief and becomes unable to stop crying, which leaves her feeling incapable of properly caring for her daughter. In her distress, she chooses to leave Yuzuyu in the care of Kippei's family while she tries to recover emotionally. Throughout much of the story, she remains physically absent but communicates through letters, expressing her love and her hope to be reunited with Yuzuyu when she is stronger. Her primary motivation is her deep affection for her daughter, but her overwhelming sorrow and self-doubt prevent her from being present. Over the course of the narrative, she gradually works to regain her stability, securing a job and saving money in preparation for Yuzuyu's care, and she makes a conscious effort to stop crying each day. Her role in the story is that of the absent parent whose departure sets the central conflict in motion, and her eventual growth is shown through her determination to overcome her grief and reclaim her role as a mother. Her key relationship is with Yuzuyu, marked by a bond of love that persists despite their separation, and she also has ties to the Katakura family, who care for her daughter in her absence. Miyako's development is subtle but meaningful, as she evolves from a woman paralyzed by loss into someone who actively takes steps toward healing and responsibility. She is characterized by her gentle nature and her tendency toward tears, which reflect both her emotional vulnerability and her capacity for deep care.
