Description
Kūkai Sōma is a sixth-year student at Seiyo Elementary School and serves as the Jack’s Chair within the Guardians, the school’s student council. He is one year older than Amu Hinamori and the other core members. He is known for his upbeat, energetic, and outgoing nature, which makes him a popular figure at school. He is the captain of the soccer club and is highly athletic, possessing good reflexes and physical coordination. His Guardian Character is Daichi, who represents his desire for strength, freedom, and a connection to nature.
Kūkai’s primary motivation is to fulfill his responsibilities as a Guardian and to protect the school and its students from the negative influence of X Eggs and X Characters. He takes his role seriously but approaches it with a cheerful and supportive demeanor. He is a reliable and dependable presence, often acting as a big brother figure to the younger Guardians, especially Amu. He is tasked with being Amu’s mentor and guide when she first joins the Guardians, helping her understand her new role and abilities.
Within the story, Kūkai participates in the Guardians’ activities and missions until he graduates from elementary school. After his graduation, he remains in contact with the group and continues to assist them whenever possible. He is the second Guardian, after Amu, to achieve a Character Transformation. Using the power of the Humpty Lock, he and Daichi can transform into Sky Jack, a form that grants him enhanced physical abilities and the power of flight. Daichi’s phrases during a Character Change include the words kick, stack, trap, and shoot.
Kūkai’s key relationships include his bond with Amu, whom he mentors, and his friendship with the other Guardians, including Tadase Hotori, Nadeshiko Fujisaki, and Yaya Yuiki.
