Description
Akane Uchimura enters Matsubase High School as a first-year student sporting short orange hair. A small braid tied with a pink ribbon sits on her right side, while bangs hang over her left, framing her orange eyes. Her speech carries distinct cat-like mannerisms. Driven by deep-seated competitiveness, pettiness, and arrogance, Akane targets climbing novices. This stems from a childhood incident where Jun Uehara, less experienced, eclipsed her own climbing talent, fostering a lasting grudge. To drive beginners away from the sport, earning her the nickname "novice killer," Akane adopts a friendly demeanor to gain trust, then deliberately provides poor advice to cause their failure during climbs. She views climbing through a win-at-all-costs lens, believing effort is meaningless without victory.

Her actions are consistently malicious. She tricks protagonist Konomi Kasahara in competition, supplying ineffective techniques leading to exhaustion and failure, then openly mocks Konomi's trust. This pattern repeats with other newcomers. Despite her confidence, Akane struggles competitively, unable to defeat top climbers like Jun and notably failing to advance beyond preliminary rounds in major competitions, highlighting her inability to match elite performers. Her arrogance is tempered by fear; when Chinari Iwamine witnesses her behavior, he physically drags and reprimands her, leaving Akane visibly terrified. Her backstory shows no significant development or redemption across official media, maintaining her role as an antagonist driven by jealousy and resentment toward new climbers.
