Description
Anya Alstreim is a character from the second season of the anime Code Geass. She is a young girl with pink hair and red eyes who holds the rank of Knight of Six within the Holy Britannian Empire's elite Knight of the Round military order, making her the youngest person ever appointed to that position at the age of fifteen. Her personal Knightmare Frame is the heavy assault unit named Mordred, which is heavily armored and equipped with powerful hadron cannons and missile systems.

Anya is a quiet and introverted individual who presents a detached, emotionless, and often melancholic demeanor. She frequently describes situations or things as boring, and her lack of emotional expression can make her seem aloof or indifferent to those around her. Despite this reserved exterior, she takes her position and duties as a knight seriously. Her combat style is a direct reflection of her powerful machine, as she fights with overwhelming force and shows no hesitation in eliminating her enemies.

A key and defining trait of Anya is her habit of constantly taking photographs with her camera phone and maintaining an online blog. She does not view these pictures as simple memories but as records or evidence, a practice she developed because she has little faith in her own recollections. Over the years, she has discovered numerous discrepancies between her written blog entries from the past and what she actually remembers, leading her to distrust the accuracy of her own mind.

Anya's role in the story is deeply tied to a mysterious past connected to the imperial family. As a child, she was sent to the palace at the白羊宫 to learn proper etiquette. During this time, she was present at the assassination of Marianne vi Britannia, the mother of Lelouch and Nunnally. To protect her from being silenced by the perpetrator, V.V., the Emperor Charles zi Britannia used his Geass power to alter and seal away her memories of the event. Furthermore, the late Marianne implanted her own Geass within Anya, allowing her consciousness to lie dormant inside the girl's body and occasionally surface.

This combination of Geass manipulations is the root cause of Anya's memory problems and emotional detachment. When Marianne's consciousness stirs or when she is near Geass-related locations or individuals like C.C. or Lelouch, Anya experiences strange flashes of memory that do not belong to her. This also leads to periods where Marianne briefly takes control of her body. Among the Knights of the Round, she is close friends with her colleagues Suzaku Kururugi and Gino Weinberg.

Throughout the story, Anya's lack of faith in her memory leads her to act in unusual ways, such as piloting her massive Knightmare in a non-combat zone to capture Lelouch's hat for a school club game, demonstrating a distinct lack of common sense. She eventually joins the学生会 of Ashford Academy, where Lelouch and the other main characters are students.

As the truth about her past begins to resurface, Anya's loyalties shift. After her memories start to unlock, she expresses a strong dislike for Lelouch and aligns herself with his older brother, Schneizel el Britannia, in the final conflict against him. Her personal development culminates in a battle with Jeremiah Gottwald. After he defeats her, Jeremiah realizes her memories have been tampered with and uses his Geass Canceller to restore them, freeing her from the influence of both Charles and Marianne. Following the end of the war, Anya is shown to have left her position as a knight and is living a peaceful life, spending her summers helping Jeremiah harvest oranges at his farm as a gesture of thanks.
