Description
Kurotsuchi is a kunoichi from the hidden stone village of Iwagakure, first introduced during the Fourth Great Ninja War arc of Naruto Shippūden. She is the granddaughter of the Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, and later becomes the Fourth Tsuchikage after him. Her appearance features short, dark hair, red eyes, and a practical outfit consisting of a red kimono top, black shorts, and fishnet armor, reflecting her readiness for combat.

In terms of personality, Kurotsuchi is confident, sharp-tongued, and pragmatic. She often displays a dry, sarcastic humor, especially when dealing with her grandfather’s stubbornness or the antics of other Kage. Despite her sometimes abrasive exterior, she is deeply loyal to Iwagakure and its people. She values efficiency and results, and she is not afraid to speak her mind, even in front of senior officials. Her intelligence and level-headedness make her a reliable leader in high-pressure situations.

Kurotsuchi’s motivations center on protecting her village and maintaining its strength and reputation among the Five Great Shinobi Nations. She seeks to carry forward her grandfather’s legacy but on her own terms, often showing impatience with Ōnoki’s outdated methods while still respecting his wisdom. Her role in the story becomes more prominent during the Fourth Great Ninja War, where she fights alongside the Allied Shinobi Forces. As a member of the Iwagakure contingent, she participates in the battle against the reanimated shinobi and later against Obito Uchiha and Madara Uchiha. After the war, she ascends to the position of Tsuchikage, appearing in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as a decisive and sometimes stern leader.

Key relationships include her grandfather Ōnoki, with whom she shares a close yet teasing bond. She often scolds him for his physical ailments and stubbornness but clearly cares for him. She also works alongside Akatsuchi, a large and loyal Iwagakure shinobi who serves as her partner and bodyguard. Their rapport is professional but warm. During the war, she interacts with other Kage and their subordinates, showing respect for leaders like Gaara and A (Fourth Raikage), though she maintains her village-first attitude.

Kurotsuchi undergoes notable development from a capable but relatively junior shinobi to a decisive Kage. In the war arc, she shows tactical awareness and courage, such as when she helps seal the reanimated Second Tsuchikage, Mū. By the time she becomes Tsuchikage, she has matured into a more diplomatic and strategic leader, balancing her bluntness with the responsibilities of governing a major nation.

Her notable abilities are rooted in Iwagakure’s signature techniques. She has mastered Earth Release, including the Lava Release (Yōton) kekkei genkai, which allows her to produce and manipulate quicklime and molten rock. She can also use Earth Release: Earth and Stone Dragon, as well as the Fist Rock Technique to harden her limbs for melee attacks. Her skill in Earth Release is such that she can change the terrain and trap opponents effectively. As Tsuchikage, she also demonstrates flight by making herself lightweight, a technique inherited from Ōnoki, though she may not use it as extensively. Her combat style blends taijutsu with long-range elemental jutsu, making her a versatile fighter.
