Description
Kelly Kozuki, also known as Miyu Kozuki, is the main protagonist of the story. She is a fourteen-year-old girl with long, straight blonde hair that she sometimes ties in different styles, and she typically wears casual clothing. Her birthday is March 15, and her likes include custard pudding.
At the beginning of the narrative, Kelly is forced to live at the Saionji Temple when her parents, who are both scientists working for NASA, leave for the United States. Her family arranges for her to stay with a long-time family friend, Houshou Saionji, a monk who lives at the temple. However, Houshou soon departs for a year-long trip to India, leaving Kelly to live in the temple alone with his son, Kanata. Initially, she is nervous about the arrangement and dislikes the idea of sharing a home with a boy she does not know, which leads to frequent arguments with him.
Despite these early conflicts, Kelly is fundamentally a kind, generous, and cheerful girl with a ready smile. She has a soft heart that is easily touched and cares tremendously about the people close to her. Her situation becomes more complicated and lively when a tiny UFO crashes into the temple, carrying a baby named Ruu and his alien pet-like guardian, Wannya. As the UFO is too damaged for them to leave, the two beings end up living with Kelly and Kanata. She responds to him with a strong maternal instinct, knowing what it feels like to be alone, and she becomes his de facto mother on Earth.
