Description
Nanami Nishijō is the younger sister of Takumi Nishijō and a first-year student at Suimei Academy, the same school her brother attends. She is a short and petite girl with long blonde hair and purple eyes, often described as having a baby face. Her personality is bright and lively; she calls her brother "onii" and frequently visits his container home to check on him, though she often argues with him due to her blunt speech. Beneath this confrontational exterior, she is genuinely concerned for Takumi's well-being and cares for him deeply, which sometimes manifests as a brother complex. She does not belong to any school club but occasionally serves as a substitute for the tennis team, possessing good athletic ability though only average tennis skill.
As the story progresses, Nanami becomes entangled in the central conspiracy behind the New Generation murders and the Noah II project. She is kidnapped by the antagonists and tortured in an attempt to force her Di-Sword to manifest. During this ordeal, her latent abilities as a Giglomaniac awaken: she gains the power to project her delusions into reality. Her Di-Sword is modeled after the aconite flower, a double-edged blade with spikes and edges that can injure even its wielder. Unlike other Giglomaniacs whose Di-Swords appear in a more conventional manner, Nanami's manifests when drops of blood from her right wrist crystallize and spread to form the weapon.
After being rescued by Rimi Sakihata, Nanami later encounters Shogun, who reveals that he is her true biological brother. Shogun had altered her memories to spare her the pain of his impending death, but Nanami insists she would rather have kept those memories to stay by his side. Shogun refuses and tells her that Takumi is now her brother and she should continue her life with him. Nanami accepts this, acknowledging that while Takumi may be an illusion created by Shogun's power, he is still her brother. She then joins the other Giglomaniacs in using their abilities to repair the city after Noah II is defeated.
Throughout the anime and visual novel, Nanami's role is relatively minor until the later episodes, but she undergoes significant development from a seemingly ordinary, cheerful girl into a capable Giglomaniac who confronts painful truths about her past and her brother. Her relationship with Takumi is a key emotional anchor, highlighting themes of family, identity, and the blurred line between reality and delusion. In the fan disc Chaos;Head Love Chu Chu, her bright personality is further emphasized in a lighter, romantic comedy setting, where she continues to support Takumi.
