Description
Andrea is a central character in the anime Ai Shite Knight, known in some adaptations as Kiss Me Licia. He is a young boy, approximately five years old, whose full name is Hashizo Kato. He lives in a small apartment in Osaka with his older brother, Go Kato, and his pet cat, Giuliano. Andrea's real name is Hideki, but he was renamed Hashizo by his brother after the death of their parents. He is actually Go's half-brother, born from their father's relationship with his mistress. Following their parents' death in a car accident when Andrea was still a baby, Go, despite being very young himself, took on the responsibility of raising him.

In terms of personality, Andrea is depicted as a remarkably responsible and mature child for his age. Due to Go's demanding schedule as the lead singer of the rock band Bee Hive, Andrea often spends long periods alone, relying on his own resourcefulness and the companionship of his intelligent cat, Giuliano. He is an affectionate and earnest boy who quickly becomes attached to the protagonist, Yaeko Yakko Mitamura, known in many versions as Licia. He feels a strong, motherly affection for her, a maternal figure he deeply lacks in his own life.

This personal motivation drives Andrea's primary role in the story. He is not merely a passive child character but an active and determined matchmaker. He dreams of seeing Licia marry his brother Go, believing that this union would give him the loving mother he has always wanted. To this end, he often devises playful schemes and plans to bring Licia and Go closer together, inadvertently or intentionally complicating the series' central romantic triangle.

Andrea's key relationships define his world. His bond with his brother Go is one of deep mutual care and responsibility. Go works hard to provide for Andrea, and Andrea, in turn, shows great consideration for Go's happiness and career. His relationship with Licia is the heart of his emotional arc; he becomes very attached to her, and the Mambo, her father's okonomiyaki restaurant, quickly becomes his second home. His closest confidant is his cat, Giuliano, who is always by his side. The pair are a near-inseparable duo, with Giuliano providing both company and occasional comic relief. He also interacts with other characters, such as Elisa, a young girl who has a crush on him and often participates in his plans.

Throughout the series, Andrea shows subtle but significant development. While he begins as a lonely boy who ran away from home, leading to his first encounter with Licia, he gradually finds a sense of belonging and family. His yearning for a maternal figure remains a constant, but his initial hope transforms as he witnesses the growing love between Licia and Go, solidifying his goal to see them married.

While Andrea has no supernatural or combat abilities, he possesses notable traits for a child his age. He is resourceful, intelligent, and possesses a keen emotional intuition that allows him to understand the feelings of the adults around him. He attends playschool, where he has his own social circle of friends, including a girl named Kaoru who has a crush on him and a boy named Gonta. His greatest ability is his persistent, charming determination to create a happy family for himself and the people he loves.
