TV-Series
Description
Kyoko Kirisaki is a seventeen-year-old high school student from the island nation of Jipang, who becomes involved with a terrorist organization known as the Apostles of the Stars. She has shoulder-length black hair and blue or purple eyes, and is often seen in her school uniform, sometimes with a purple hooded sweatshirt when on missions. Her birthday is March 3.
Kyoko has a cheerful, childish, and outgoing personality, but she also lacks common sense and has a very simplified view of the world, dividing it into things she likes and dislikes. She is prone to fits of intense anger, and her solution to anything that annoys her is to burn it to ashes. She views her terrorist missions as a game and the organization's revolution as a big festival, showing little understanding of the moral consequences of her actions. Her hobbies include playing video games and eating sweets. The leader of the Apostles, Creed Diskenth, encouraged her violent tendencies, telling her it was natural to express her temper through her powers.
Kyoko's background suggests her parents are rarely home, leading to a lack of authority figures in her life, which made her receptive to the Apostles' ideology. She joined the organization out of boredom, finding it a more exciting alternative to high school. She is often partnered with another member named Charden Flamberg, and she states she will follow him anywhere. After the Apostle Creed kills a comrade, Charden begins to question their motives, and Kyoko defects from the organization with him, primarily so that he will not be lonely.
After leaving the Apostles, Kyoko is taken hostage by a thug and is saved by the sweeper, or bounty hunter, Train Heartnet. She misinterprets his actions as a heroic rescue and immediately develops a massive crush on him, much to his annoyance. She begins calling him Master Black and aggressively flirts with him. Later, when Train is temporarily transformed into a child, Kyoko attempts to kill several assassins from the secret organization Chronos who are pursuing her. Train stops her, telling her that murder is not something to be taken lightly. Deeply impressed by his policy, Kyoko makes a solemn promise that she will no longer kill anyone, no matter how irritating they are. This promise marks the beginning of her redemption.
When the Chronos Numbers, elite assassins, continue to target Kyoko because she is a Tao-wielder and former criminal, she struggles to keep her promise but stops herself from attacking at the last second. She later shows significant maturity when she refuses Train's offer to come to her rescue, stating she does not want him to be involved in her problems anymore. To test her resolve, Sephiria Arks, the leader of Chronos, gives Kyoko an ultimatum: become an assassin for Chronos or be killed. Kyoko refuses, choosing to face death rather than break her promise to Train. Sephiria reveals this was a bluff and allows Kyoko to return to her normal life in Jipang.
As a Tao-wielder, Kyoko possesses a powerful ability called Heat, which allows her to raise her body temperature to extreme levels, up to 1000 degrees Celsius. This searing aura allows her to melt anything she touches, including stone and steel. Her offensive techniques include breathing fire, spitting a large and destructive fireball, and a death kiss where she burns a victim from the inside out. She can also use her superheated aura as a defensive barrier to protect herself from explosions and projectiles. Physically, she is very fast and agile, able to dash faster than the eye can see and sense the ki, or life energy, of other people.
