Description
Kō Yonamine is a man who outwardly presents a carefree and elusive demeanor, but his true identity and allegiance are far more complex than they first appear. On the surface, he works as a freelance reporter, frequently gathering information alongside Yuuri Kitajima, with whom he shares a difficult past romantic relationship that leaves her often exasperated by his persistent advances. This cover as a journalist is actually a front for his role as an intelligence operative. Initially, he is embedded within the International Solarsystem Development Agency, or ISDA, as a spy, tasked with monitoring the agency’s activities following a shuttle accident. After that incident, he poses as a reporter to secretly investigate and watch over Jin Kamishina, one of the key figures in the Dragonaut project. However, his true position is that of an auditor dispatched by the International Union Space Development Organization, an oversight body created to check the ISDA’s power. His ultimate motivation is to prevent the ISDA from running out of control and to work for the safety of Earth, the Dragonauts, and the dragons themselves. Throughout the story, Yonamine balances his deceptive roles while striving to curb the ISDA’s excesses, and his past connection with Yuuri continues to color his interactions. As the plot unfolds, he becomes more directly involved in the conflict, using his skills in espionage and information gathering to support the broader effort. His abilities lie in intelligence work, infiltration, and reconnaissance, making him a valuable if unpredictable asset in the struggle against the dragon threat and the agency’s hidden agendas.
