TV-Series
Description
Noel is the Mermaid Princess of the Arctic Ocean and the keeper of the Deep Blue Pearl. She is a supporting character in the anime and manga series. Noel is the older twin sister of Caren, and the two were born moments apart on opposite sides of the Earth. Her kingdom was destroyed by the antagonist Gaito, and after escaping alongside her close friend Rina, Noel sacrificed herself so that Rina could get away. She was then captured and placed into a sleeping glass within Gaito’s castle, remaining unconscious for much of the first season. She is eventually rescued by Lucia, Hanon, Rina, and Caren near the end of the season. Following Gaito’s defeat, Noel leaves to help rebuild her kingdom, but later returns to the human world with Caren and Coco during the second season, where she becomes a source of lighthearted moments. She also appears again when the mermaid princesses confront the antagonist Michel.

Noel’s personality is gentle, kind, and calm. She is shy and quiet by nature, often appearing reserved and not eager to jump into action, but she is courageous when her friends or family are in danger and will not hesitate to sacrifice herself to protect them. She is intelligent and analytical, with a love for reading detective books, which reflects her thoughtful approach to problems. She also possesses a broad knowledge of magical subjects and places. Despite her serene demeanor, she is not immune to joining in on the playful antics of the other mermaid princesses, such as pretending to flirt with human boys to make Hanon and Rina jealous. In the second season, she is shown wearing glasses while helping the group investigate the theory of Miracle Bay, further highlighting her logical and studious side.

Noel’s primary motivation is the protection of her friends and her sister, as well as the restoration of her underwater kingdom. Her role in the story is that of a supporting mermaid princess who, after being freed, aids the main trio in their battles. She is also a close friend of Rina, and the two share a strong bond; Noel and Rina were traveling together before Noel’s capture, and Rina never forgets her sacrifice. Her relationship with her twin sister Caren is also important, as they are reunited after Noel’s rescue, though they were separated at birth and had never met prior to that point.

In terms of development, Noel transitions from a captive victim to a more active participant in the later conflicts. After her rescue, she initially focuses on rebuilding her own kingdom, but she later returns to assist the other mermaid princesses against Michel, showing growth in her willingness to engage in direct confrontation when necessary. However, she remains a secondary figure rather than a central protagonist.

Noel has three distinct forms: her mermaid form, her human form, and her singer form known as Deep Blue Pearl Voice. In her mermaid form, she has long blue hair and purple eyes, and she wears a pearl bracelet and a mermaid tail. In her human form, her hair is shorter and still blue, and she keeps her pearl in a necklace. When transforming into her idol form, she calls out the name of her pearl voice and wears a short blue dress with purple ruffles. As a mermaid princess, her primary ability is to use her singing voice to combat enemies, similar to the other princesses. She does not have a personal image song in the series.
