Description
Prince Hata is a recurring supporting character in the anime and manga series Gintama. He is a prince from the planet Oukoku, an alien world, and he frequently visits Earth, much to the dismay of its residents. In appearance, he is short and stout, with light purple skin in the anime, dark red hair that is present only on the sides and back of his head, and a single antenna. His clothing and mannerisms are intended to suggest royal dignity, although his behavior rarely matches that impression.
Hata is commonly known as the Stupid Prince, a nickname given to him by Sakata Gintoki and adopted by others because of his simple-minded and irresponsible nature. He has an intense fondness for all kinds of strange and unusual creatures, not just conventionally cute animals. He collects rare pets and exotic beasts from across the galaxy, but he is completely incompetent when it comes to caring for them. His pets frequently escape, become aggressive, or grow to dangerous sizes, and their rampages often turn into major incidents in Edo. One of his pets once bit off his antenna, which later grew back.
