Description
Kenichi Harakawa, often called by his nickname Haraken, is a central figure in the story. He is the president of the Biology Club and becomes the fifth member of the Coil Dennō Detective Agency, a group dedicated to investigating the strange digital phenomena in their city.
In many ways, Haraken is the quiet opposite of his more outspoken and energetic friend, Fumie. His personality is defined by his shy and reserved nature, and he has a strong tendency to keep his thoughts and feelings to himself, especially regarding his personal life. This secretive demeanor stems from a deep personal tragedy; he is driven by his connection to Kanna Ashihara, his childhood friend who died in a mysterious traffic accident the previous year. His primary motivation is to research and understand the internet viruses and Illegals that inhabit the digital space, which he does partly on behalf of Kanna's memory. He is tormented by the idea that a part of her might still exist somewhere on the other side of the digital world, and he seeks the truth behind her death.
