Description
Miranda Lotto is a German exorcist affiliated with the European branch of the Black Order, serving under General Cross Marian. Before becoming an exorcist, Miranda was known in her hometown for what she and others perceived as persistent bad luck. She was fired from over one hundred jobs due to her clumsy and socially awkward nature, which left her with a deep sense of inferiority and chronic depression. Her life changed when she discovered an old grandfather clock in an antique shop. This clock contained an Innocence, and when she successfully wound it, she unknowingly became its accommodator. Feeling needed for the first time, she bought the clock and treated it as her closest companion. After being fired for the hundredth time, Miranda drunkenly wished for tomorrow to never come, and the Innocence within the clock granted that wish by trapping her town in an endless time loop replaying the same day. Only Miranda was aware of the repetition, and she spent over a month trying to navigate the loop while avoiding the mishaps that had troubled her originally.

Allen Walker and Lenalee Lee were sent to investigate the time anomaly and encountered Miranda. They discovered that her lack of self-confidence was the key to breaking the loop. With their encouragement, Miranda attempted to find a new job at a local theater, but an Akuma disguised as a thief sabotaged her efforts as part of Road Kamelot’s plan to locate the Innocence accommodator. During the ensuing battle with Road and a Level 2 Akuma, Miranda found the courage to protect Allen, which activated the true power of her Innocence. After this event, she joined the Black Order, determined to prove herself useful as an exorcist.

Miranda’s personality is defined by her persistent self-doubt and melancholy, but she is also deeply compassionate and unwilling to let others suffer or die. Despite her fears, she consistently pushes herself beyond her limits to support her comrades. Her primary motivation is a desire to be useful and to overcome the sense of failure that has haunted her since childhood. She is kind-hearted and grateful for the help she receives from others, particularly Allen and Lenalee, who were instrumental in helping her find purpose. Her relationship with Allen is one of mutual support; he encourages her when she doubts herself, and she protects him in return. Her bond with Lenalee is similarly warm, with Lenalee acting as a steadying presence. Within the Black Order, Miranda also develops a rapport with Noise Marie and other members, though she often remains anxious about her own worth.

Miranda’s role in the story is that of a support exorcist with a unique and powerful ability. During the journey to Edo, her skills proved essential when the group’s ship was damaged by Level 2 Akuma. In the battle against the Earl in Edo, she could sense the disappearance of Yu Kanda and Krory through their lost time. During the invasion of Black Order headquarters, she used her ability to hold the Akuma egg in place long enough for Allen and the generals to severely damage it, despite being knocked unconscious by Lulubell. In a later battle against a Level 4 Akuma, she shielded those who would have otherwise died, working alongside Noise Marie. She also protected a group of finders and Howard Link from an Akuma attack while Link retrieved an Innocence ring. Not shown in the anime, Miranda later became infected with a virus created by Komui and passed it to Marie in a manner that appeared compromising to onlookers.

Her development is a gradual journey from crippling self-doubt to quiet resilience. She begins as someone who believes she brings misfortune to everything she touches and ends as an exorcist who willingly endures immense strain to protect others. She learns to believe in her own value through the trust placed in her by her friends and the tangible difference her abilities make in battle.

Miranda’s anti-Akuma weapon is called the Time Record. Originally taking the form of the face of her grandfather clock, it is later redesigned as a disk that attaches to her right arm. The Time Record allows her to create a field in which she can stop or reverse the flow of time temporarily. This power can restore objects to their previous state and enable her allies to fight at full strength for longer periods. However, the effect is temporary; once she deactivates her Innocence, all damage suffered before and during the reversed time returns, and she cannot revive the dead because her Innocence cannot erase time, only reverse it. Miranda possesses remarkable stamina, able to stay awake for days at a time and maintain the invocation of her Innocence well beyond her normal limits, even shielding groups from powerful attacks from Level 4 Akuma and from the Earl himself. She is the only exorcist in the Black Order who wields a purely non-offensive anti-Akuma weapon.
