TV-Series
Description
Edelgard Rivera, often called Edel, is a character who works as a temporary office worker for the Debris Section of the Technora Corporation on the ISPV 7 space station. Of German nationality, she is a young woman with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes. Her primary role in the story is handling the secretarial and clerical duties for the debris retrieval team, a department often overlooked and underfunded within the larger corporation.
On the surface, Edelgard projects a quiet, professional, and reserved exterior, which has led some of her coworkers to perceive her as mysterious and tight-lipped. Her serious attitude is notable, especially given her status as a non-contracted employee. However, this composed demeanor masks a darker personal history that she is determined to leave behind. Her core motivation is to live an independent life, and she works in the Debris Section specifically to fund the completion of her studies. Outside of work, her hobbies include collecting small accessories, such as a mascot character named Nora-kun. Her colleague, Gigalt, gives her the nickname "Hourglass".
Her past is explored in depth during a key story arc. It is revealed that she was previously in an abusive relationship with a man named Sasha, to whom she was once married. When Sasha unexpectedly arrives at the ISPV 7 station, Edelgard is forced to confront the trauma she has been trying to escape. She meets with him, and the encounter escalates to the point where she threatens him with a weapon, revealing the depth of her pain and anger. Her coworkers, Ai Tanabe and Hachimaki, intervene, and Sasha is ultimately apprehended by authorities. This event is a turning point for her character, allowing her past to be resolved.
In terms of her relationships within the Debris Section, she maintains a professional but somewhat distant rapport with her colleagues, including the section chief Philippe Myers and the debris workers like Hachimaki, Tanabe, and Fee Carmichael. While she is an integral part of the office, her temporary status and reserved nature initially keep her at an emotional distance from the team. Following the confrontation with her past, her relationship with her coworkers deepens as they come to understand her circumstances. By the end of the story, when her contract with Technora Corporation concludes, she makes the decision to stay on and continue working for the company as a regular employee in the General Affairs section, signifying her successful integration into the workplace and her forward-looking resolve. Edelgard does not possess any notable abilities beyond her clerical skills and her determination to rebuild her life on her own terms.
