Description
Ginji Niihari is a supporting character in the anime Speed Grapher. He works as one of the henchmen under Tsujido, serving as an enforcer within the criminal underworld connected to the Roppongi Club. Niihari is visually distinctive, with short brown hair, brown eyes, a goatee, and glasses, and he often wears a shirt, pants, and a necklace. In contrast to his more silent and stoic partner, Makabe, Niihari is highly talkative and prone to using profoundly foul language. Despite his crude demeanor, he is portrayed as calculating and calm under pressure, frequently thinking several steps ahead and relying on strategic planning rather than brute force. His intelligence and analytical skills make him a valuable asset to his superiors.

Niihari's personality is shaped by a troubled personal history. He has mentioned failed relationships with the women in his life: his mother betrayed his father and himself, and his former wife was overly greedy. These experiences have left him cynical and emotionally guarded, contributing to a tendency to talk excessively as a coping mechanism or as a way to assert control in conversations. His primary motivation appears to be loyalty to his direct superior, Tsujido, and a pragmatic desire to survive and succeed in the dangerous environment of the Roppongi Club. He does not exhibit any supernatural abilities, relying instead on conventional weapons and his wits.

In the story, Niihari functions as a minor antagonist and obstacle for the protagonist Tatsumi Saiga. He is involved in tracking and attempting to capture Saiga and Kagura Tennouzu during the early and middle portions of the series. His role highlights the everyday corruption and violence that permeates the Tennozu Group's operations. He does not undergo significant development or redemption; he remains a secondary threat who is ultimately overcome. Niihari's key relationships are with his partner Makabe, with whom he shares a working dynamic, and Tsujido, to whom he reports. There is no indication of any deeper connection to the main cast or any meaningful change in his worldview over the course of the series.
