Description
Megumi Oumi is a fourteen-year-old pop idol who becomes the human partner of the mamodo Tia. She has long, flowing hair, large clear eyes, and a slender figure typical of a stage performer, and she often dresses in skirts or dresses. Despite her fame and busy schedule, Megumi remains down-to-earth and longs for a normal life. She started singing because she wanted to make people happy with her songs, and that dream continues to motivate her throughout the story. Her personality is kind‑hearted and warm; she sees Tia as a little sister and often calms her temper, helping her understand the human world. Megumi first met Tia after finding her injured at the docks. At first Tia was distrustful and pushed her away, afraid that Megumi would get hurt, but Megumi’s patience and compassion gradually earned Tia’s trust. When Maruss, an old friend of Tia’s from the mamodo world, betrayed Tia and attacked them during one of Megumi’s concerts, Zatch Bell and Kiyo Takamine came to their aid. After that battle, Megumi considered Zatch and Kiyo close friends and swore to return the favor one day. Throughout the series, Megumi balances her career as a pop star with the dangers of the mamodo battle. Her orange spellbook contains mostly defensive spells, such as Seushi and Ma Seshield, making Tia a vital protector for the group. Megumi is brave enough to stand up for her friends and willingly risks her own safety. She also develops a subtle romantic interest in Kiyo, though this remains a minor thread. As the story progresses, Megumi grows from a girl focused on her career into a determined fighter who fully embraces her role as Tia’s partner. After the battle for the mamodo king concludes, with Tia placing fifth, Megumi receives a letter from Tia and tearfully reads it, showing how deep their bond remained even after Tia returned to the mamodo world.
