Description
Takashi Inamori is a character who appears early in the story as a participant in the Gantz missions. He is a 20-year-old male with a slim build and pale skin. He has long, deep blonde hair that often covers part of his forehead and can sometimes obscure both of his eyes. Due to his youthful appearance and fine features, other characters have remarked that he looks younger than his age and has a feminine quality to his face. His clothing in his only mission consists of a pink shirt under a purple jacket, paired with jogging pants and sports shoes.

Regarding his background, Inamori is revealed to be a preparatory school student. The specific circumstances of his death involve him sneaking into a construction site with the intent of stealing copper wire and bronze fixtures to sell. During this act, a worker accidentally knocked down a steel beam, which fell and pierced his body, leading to his demise. Upon arriving in the Gantz room, he is notably secretive and refuses to share the details of his death with the other participants when asked.

Inamori's personality is marked by arrogance and a distinct asocial nature. From his first moments in the Gantz room, he displays disinterest in his surroundings and annoyance at others who try to explain the situation. He refuses to introduce himself and bluntly tells another person to be quiet. He has a persistent request for cigarettes, which he asks for repeatedly despite being told he looks underage, to which he simply insists he is 20 years old. He is also shown to be inquisitive, but this curiosity is paired with a dangerous carelessness. He takes a strong interest in the advanced weaponry provided, but recklessly points the weapons at other hunters on two separate occasions and pulls the trigger, each time narrowly avoiding killing them only because he initially used a single trigger for an X-ray function rather than the full firing mechanism. Despite his cold exterior, he does show slight concern for another participant in one instance, and is visibly affected by the violence of the mission.

His primary motivation during his only mission is born from a competitive spirit and a desire for the prize. When another participant proposes a theory that the entire experience is a kind of game show where the winner receives a large sum of money and freedom, Inamori becomes highly enthusiastic. He forgets his earlier skepticism and eagerly begins searching for the target alien, expressing disappointment when someone else finds it first. He is driven by the initiative to hunt and win, as well as a fascination with the alien-killing technology he has been given.

In the story, Inamori serves as one of the several individuals brought together for the Onion Alien mission. His role is that of an aggressive and proactive, but ultimately reckless, hunter. His actions directly influence the flow of the mission; he is the first to correctly discover that pulling both triggers on the X-rifle unleashes its destructive blast, which becomes the key method for eliminating the alien targets. However, his impulsive decision to fire at the larger alien while it used a teammate as a shield leads directly to that teammate being hit by the blast and killed. This moment, born from fear, has fatal consequences for his own group.

His key relationships with other characters are largely defined by his brief and tense interactions. He clashes with the more passive and moralistic Masaru Kato, telling Kato to shut up and calling him a hypocrite for crying over an alien's death. He is dismissive of Masashi Yamada, who tries to organize the group. He shows a degree of envy or possessiveness when a female participant appears. He aligns himself more with the aggressive members of the group, like the yakuza Hiroshi Hatanaka, but this proves fatal when his own shot ends Hatanaka's life. His final moments are marked by horror as he witnesses the retaliation of the adult Onion Alien.

Throughout the course of the mission, Inamori experiences a clear but brief development. He goes from an arrogant, curious, and eager participant to a state of shock and regret. After the group kills the smaller alien, he tries to justify the slaughter by telling himself it was a non-human monster, but the graphic reality of the act causes him to vomit. He laughs hysterically when he thinks they are invisible ghosts, trying to rationalize their situation. This psychological unraveling culminates in his panicked, fatal shot at the larger alien, which seals his fate.

In terms of notable abilities, Inamori demonstrates a sharp, if reckless, curiosity. He is the first person in the group to figure out the correct way to fire the Gantz rifle for maximum destruction, discovering that pulling both triggers activates the weapon's lethal blast rather than its harmless X-ray function. This discovery proves essential for the team to be able to damage the aliens. Beyond this mechanical aptitude, he is not shown to possess any extraordinary combat skills or physical prowess, and his lack of discipline ultimately leads to his quick death at the hands of the adult alien, which bifurcates his body.
