OVA
Description
Aya Fujimiya, whose real name is Ran Fujimiya, is a central figure in the series. He is a young man of approximately nineteen to twenty years old at the start of the story, later appearing as a twenty-seven-year-old in the sequel series. He is of average height for a Japanese man and possesses distinctive red hair and lilac eyes. His codename within the organization is Abyssinian, and his primary weapon is a Japanese sword named Shion. He is a member of Weiss, a group of assassins who work by day at a flower shop called Kitten House and by night eliminate criminals who have escaped the reach of the law.

His background is defined by a single, tragic night. When his younger sister, Aya, turned sixteen, he took her to a carnival. Upon returning home, they discovered their parents had been murdered. A makeshift bomb then destroyed the house, and while Aya was thrown clear, Ran was trapped under debris. From his position, he was forced to watch as a car deliberately ran his sister over, leaving her in a coma. The man responsible for both the initial murder and the hit-and-run was Reiji Takatori. This event destroyed his family and set him on a path of revenge. After this incident, he abandoned his birth name, Ran, and began using his sister's name, Aya, as a constant reminder of his mission. He also wears one of the earrings he bought for his sister on that birthday.

In terms of personality, Aya is known for being silent, calm, and exceptionally serious. He rarely speaks without purpose and can be blunt or perceived as rude due to his directness. He takes his work seriously, both the daytime role as a florist and his nighttime missions as an assassin, for which he shows no remorse. This cold exterior is a defense mechanism, as he is a deeply closed-off person who keeps others at a distance to prevent them from knowing his true self. His primary motivation is revenge against Reiji Takatori, and this singular focus prevents him from living a normal life. He harbors considerable rage, which is most evident whenever he confronts Takatori, driving him to act recklessly. Despite his demeanor, he is not without a caring side. He shows concern for his teammates and is deeply devoted to his comatose sister, visiting her and using his earnings from assassination to pay for her medical care, keeping her in the best possible condition in the hope that she will one day wake up.

His role in the story is that of a core member and, in later iterations, the leader of Weiss. He is a professional assassin, and his primary function is to execute missions assigned by his handler, Persia. While all missions are completed with professional efficiency, his personal quest for vengeance against the Takatori family, and Reiji Takatori in particular, is a major driving force of the narrative. His role evolves from a vengeance-driven operative to a more seasoned leader, as seen in the series Weiss Kreuz Gluhen, where he acts as a mentor and guide to newer members like Sena Izumi and Kyo Aguri. After the original Weiss group disbands, he continues his work as an assassin by joining the British organization Kryptonbrand alongside former teammate Ken Hidaka, forming a new iteration of the group known as Side B.

Key relationships are central to his character. The most significant is with his sister, Aya Fujimiya, whose well-being and eventual awakening are his deepest, unspoken hopes. His primary antagonistic relationship is with Reiji Takatori, the man he blames for the destruction of his family and the catalyst for his life of violence. He also has a complex relationship with his teammates. While he initially keeps them at arm's length, over time he develops bonds of trust and camaraderie with them, particularly with Ken Hidaka, who remains a close ally even after the original Weiss disbands.

Over the course of the series, Aya undergoes noticeable development. He begins as a man consumed by rage and bitterness, willing to do anything for revenge. As time passes and he ages, he becomes more mellow, open, and sensible. His outward anger dissipates, and while he remains a serious individual, he smiles more often and is more willing to share advice, as he does with the younger members of his team. He learns to trust his allies more, even if he remains inherently cautious about forming emotional attachments due to the dangerous nature of his work. He carries the belief that as an assassin, his own life holds little value, which makes him willing to sacrifice himself for others.

As an operative, his notable abilities are extensive. He is highly proficient in armed combat, with his specialty being the katana. He is also skilled with firearms and hand-to-hand combat. Beyond fighting, he is adept in infiltration, espionage, and covert tactics, making him a well-rounded and highly effective assassin. His calm and analytical nature allows him to assess situations quickly and act with precision. He speaks Japanese fluently and is very nearly fluent in English.
