Description
Eimi Oba is a prominent character in the world of doujinshi creation, known for her exceptional talent and her equally formidable ego. A high school student, she stands 158 centimeters tall and has distinct green hair and blue eyes, with a birthday of March 20. She holds the self-proclaimed title of Queen of ComiPa and is the dominant force behind her popular doujin circle, CAT OR FISH?.

At first glance, Eimi's personality is defined by a towering arrogance. She is fiercely competitive and openly dismissive of other creators, firmly believing that the value of a doujinshi is determined solely by its sales figures. This commercial mindset puts her at odds with those who prioritize artistic passion, and she rarely misses an opportunity to praise her own work while harshly criticizing the efforts of her rivals. Despite her abrasive exterior, her behavior often reveals a childish and simple nature. She has a habit of mispronouncing complex words and adding the prefix super to her speech, which can undercut her own attempts to sound grand. She also has a notable aversion to green vegetables like seaweed due to an embarrassing personal incident.

Her motivation as a creator stems from a deep-seated need for validation through commercial success. The rapid sellouts of her circle's books at conventions are her primary measure of worth. However, this was not always her approach. In the past, she created works full of fresh, innovative ideas, but after experiencing a cold reception from readers, she was deeply hurt and consciously shifted her focus to producing only what was guaranteed to sell. This transformation led to a significant rift with her former friend, Yuu Inagawa, who regrets the change she has seen in Eimi.

In the story, Eimi acts as a major rival and foil to the protagonist, Kazuki Sendo, and his friend, Yuu Inagawa. She looks down upon Kazuki initially, viewing him as an amateur, and her intense, combative relationship with Yuu is a recurring source of conflict. The two frequently engage in public spats, trading insults such as Eimi calling Yuu a hot springs panda, while Yuu retorts by calling her Obaka Eimi, a pun on her name meaning foolish. Despite the animosity, the history of their friendship suggests a much more complex dynamic beneath the surface.

Throughout the series, Eimi shows signs of development, as her driving inner passion is revealed, proving that her success is built on more than just delusions of grandeur. Her worldview is challenged when she befriends the teen idol Asahi, whose fame greatly outshines her own, forcing her to confront a different kind of success. While she remains a fiercely competitive egoist, she becomes a more rounded character as her own insecurities and past are explored.

Eimi's notable abilities are genuine and considerable. She possesses first-class artistic talent and technical drawing skill, but her greatest strength lies in her expert ability to read the public consciousness and predict market trends. This talent for creating work that will sell is what backs up her bold claims and makes her a true queen of the convention floor. Conversely, she is an indifferent student who neglects her formal studies in favor of her art.
