Description
Michael Lee is the technical support expert and hacker for the STN-J, the Japanese branch of the Solomon organization. He is the only member who does not participate in field hunts, instead remaining inside the STN-J headquarters at all times to handle computer systems. As a teenager, Michael was an adventurous hacker who broke into various computer networks purely for the intellectual challenge, never intending to cause harm. At the age of fourteen, he hacked into the STN network, which employed a unique defense mechanism that prevented him from logging out. The STN-J tracked him down and surrounded him, and Administrator Takuma Zaizen gave him a stark choice: work for the STN-J or be killed. Michael chose to work and has since been confined to the STN-J building, unable to leave without special permission. In exchange for his freedom, he is responsible for the organization's computer security, ensuring no further intrusions occur, and for electronic information gathering. He passes critical intelligence to the hunters through a non-linear filter projector built into their cell phones, and he is capable of digging up extensive data on witches, police reports, and other records while covering all traces of his activities. Michael is a highly skilled hacker, and his abilities make him an invaluable asset to the team.

Personality-wise, Michael is quiet, introverted, and not very social. He tends to isolate himself by listening to loud music and focusing intensely on his work, often ignoring his coworkers. This leads others to maintain only a business-like relationship with him. He can become irritable if disturbed while deep in a hacking session. He has a fondness for junk food, frequently keeping bags of chips and doughnuts at his desk. Initially, he avoids the new hunter Robin Sena, but he gradually warms up to her after she chooses to stay behind in the office at night to keep him company. Their shared conversations over coffee and doughnuts develop into a genuine friendship, and Michael comes to care deeply for her. He is willing to risk his own life to help her, even when acting against Zaizen's orders. His motivations are shaped by his captivity: he values his life and complies with his role to survive, but his loyalty ultimately shifts toward Robin, the first person to treat him as more than a tool. Over the course of the series, Michael’s relationship with Robin grows into his only personal connection, and by the story’s conclusion, Zaizen finally grants him permission to leave the STN-J headquarters, marking a significant step in his personal freedom and development. His notable abilities are limited to his exceptional computer hacking skills and his knack for maintaining secure databases and communication systems; he possesses no supernatural craft or combat abilities.
