OVA
Description
Iria is the central protagonist of the six-episode original video animation series. She is a young woman from the Batabitajira region of the planet Myce. At the beginning of the story, she is employed as an apprentice bounty hunter for Ghomvak Security & Investigations, a bounty hunting agency. Her official hunter ID number is 9799-5. In her world, a hunter's rank is signified by a colored stone pendant shaped like a magatama; as an apprentice, she wears a pink pendant with two dots, and upon becoming a fully licensed hunter later in the story, she receives a blue stone with three red dots.

Iria has something of a tomboyish personality and is considered eccentric for her habit of wearing hair ornaments typically intended for men. She begins her journey with a somewhat reckless nature, and her personality is noted for having normal quirks and a genuine temper, which sets her apart from more stoic and cold portrayals of female action heroes. She initially lives happily in the shadow of her older brother, Gren, and has been partially sheltered from the harsh realities of the universe. As the story progresses, she develops considerable mental and physical toughness while still retaining glimpses of her more youthful and feminine side.

Her primary motivation is driven by a traumatic encounter with a seemingly indestructible alien creature known as Zeiram. During a rescue mission on a hijacked spaceship called the Karma, Zeiram critically wounds her colleague Bob and causes the apparent death of her brother Gren, who sacrifices himself to destroy the ship. Following this event, Iria finds herself targeted by assassins from the Tedan Tippedai Corporation, which had secretly attempted to capture Zeiram for use as a biological weapon. Her role in the story becomes one of survival and revenge, as she seeks to uncover the truth about the conspiracy and confront the creature that destroyed her family.

Iria's key relationships are central to her development. Her bond with her brother Gren serves as her initial anchor, as he is both a family member and a mentor who taught her the skills of bounty hunting. Bob, Gren's partner, becomes a crucial ally after his mind is downloaded into a portable computer system following his severe injuries. She also forms a bond with Fujikuro, a jaded fellow bounty hunter who initially appears resentful and self-interested but demonstrates genuine care for Iria's safety as the story unfolds. Additionally, she becomes a mentor figure and idol to a young orphan named Kei, mirroring the dynamic she once shared with her own brother.

Her development throughout the narrative is significant. Iria transforms from a relatively protected and impulsive apprentice into a determined, fully-fledged hunter hardened by loss and a quest for justice. She is forced to confront corruption, betrayal, and her own vulnerabilities, ultimately earning her status as a capable and resourceful warrior who can stand against a nigh-unstoppable alien threat.

Iria possesses a variety of notable abilities. She is a skillful sharpshooter and is proficient in unarmed combat, capable of deflecting energy blasts with her physical reactions. She is also a master of preparation, utilizing explosives, traps, and a vast array of gadgetry for different situations. Her standard equipment includes a powered armor suit, various guns and blades, a spear, a glider for aerial movement, and advanced technology such as portable shields and teleportation devices. A key piece of equipment is the Metis cannon, a powerful weapon capable of immense destruction. She later gains the ability to create an artificial dimensional field called the Zone. Despite her growing power and expertise, she is occasionally portrayed as needing help from her allies to survive the most difficult situations, a testament to the immense danger posed by her enemy.
