Description
Banri Settsu serves as core member and leader of the Mankai Company's Autumn Troupe. Academically gifted and athletically proficient, he characterizes his life as running on "super ultra easy mode" due to innate talent across nearly all endeavors. This natural aptitude paradoxically bred profound boredom and aimlessness during high school, manifesting as delinquency, skipped classes, and a pursuit of fights. His first defeat in a confrontation with Juza Hyodo became pivotal, motivating Banri to follow Juza into the Autumn Troupe audition. His initial goal was revenge through outperforming Juza in acting—a field he held no prior passion for. Despite this disinterest, his innate abilities secured him a place in the troupe, and he was unexpectedly appointed its leader.
His appearance features light brown medium-length hair, blue eyes, and a height of 183 cm. He favors layered, masculine fashion, typically pairing a black T-shirt, purple flannel shirt, and black-and-white vest with dark jeans and sneakers. He often accessorizes with bracelets and ear piercings. His style reflects expensive tastes and an interest in animal prints, earning him a reputation as a company fashionista.
Initially arrogant and condescending, Banri struggled to connect, dismissing those he deemed less capable. Involvement in theater fostered gradual personal growth, revealing a more considerate and supportive side, though he remains reserved in expressing deep emotions. He exhibits sharp perceptiveness, demonstrated during an informant role study where he efficiently deduced causes for unexplained electricity bill increases—such as a malfunctioning mini-fridge and unauthorized kotatsu use. This keen observation extends to anticipating others' needs, like knowing where Tsuzuru stored kitchen tools.
As Autumn Troupe leader, Banri evolved from a detached participant to a committed team member. Early conflicts with Juza centered on rivalry, but their dynamic matured into mutual respect through collaborative acting experiences, particularly during the troupe's debut play "The Roman Episode." Leadership responsibilities, suggested by Sakyo to cultivate passion, pushed him beyond relying solely on talent. He learned to value effort and teamwork, mentoring newer members like Azami and acknowledging Juza's empathetic acting strengths as complementary to his own technical skill.
He shares Room 104 with Juza, a setup that initially fueled tension but later facilitated their complex bond. Relationships include gaming sessions with Itaru under the alias "NEO," shopping trips with fellow leader Tenma, university camaraderie with Kazunari at Veludo Arts University, and frequent cafe visits with Tsumugi. He participates in troupe-wide activities like New Year gatherings, where members humorously associated him with an "eggplant descendant" from shared dreams.
Notable trivia includes his September 9 birthday, blood type B, dislike of natto, and fondness for California rolls. His hobbies encompass Rubik's cubes, puzzle-solving, and online gaming. He has an older sister and demonstrated unexpected craftsmanship when Sakyo recommended him as a chopstick artisan.
