TV-Series
Description
Aska is the first princess and sole heir to the empire of Fahren, a land that is visually inspired by a fantastical version of ancient China. She is a young girl, still very much a child in both appearance and demeanor, who appears in the second story arc of the series. Having lost both of her parents, Aska inherited the throne at a very young age and is accompanied by her tutor, Chang Yang, and her chamberlain, Sang Yung, for whom she harbors a secret childhood crush.
Aska’s personality is a striking contrast of spoiled childishness and unexpected nobility. She is prone to hysterics, can be very selfish, and hates studying, often overestimating her own abilities while acting on pure caprice. Her initial goal is to invade the crumbling land of Cephiro to turn it into a playground filled with candy and sweets, a goal driven by a child's innocent desire for a new toy. However, underneath this bratty exterior lies a pure heart. Aska genuinely loves her own country and her people above all else and is deeply aware of her responsibilities as their leader.
In the story, Aska serves as a rival to the Magic Knights, arriving in Cephiro aboard her dragon-shaped mobile fortress, the Dome, to claim the power of the Pillar for herself. Her role is that of a secondary antagonist, but she is not truly evil. Her conflict with the heroines is largely ideological; while the Magic Knights seek to save Cephiro selflessly, Aska is willing to destroy anything that stands in the way of her desires, leading to tense clashes regarding morality and methods. Despite her arrogance, she proves to be a competent leader capable of making responsible decisions when the situation demands it.
Aska’s key relationships define much of her development. She relies heavily on her two attendants: Chang Yang, the strict tutor who constantly scolds her for avoiding her studies, and Sang Yung, the loyal servant she deeply admires. Her interactions with the Magic Knights, particularly Fuu, are also transformative. After being captured and spending time with Fuu, Aska begins to understand that becoming the Pillar of Cephiro would mean she could only love Cephiro, forcing her to abandon Fahren and the people she treasures. This realization causes her to mature, leading her to abandon her invasion to protect her own homeland instead.
Aska’s notable abilities stem from the secret illusion magic passed down through the royal family of Fahren. Despite her young age and lack of study, she possesses significant natural talent. Her primary techniques involve the Reincarnation Art and Illusionary Strings, which allow her to manipulate others like puppets. Her most distinctive spell is the Painting Dragon Reincarnation technique, which allows her to bring her drawings to life. The most prominent example of this is her creation of a giant, living version of Sang Yung to fight for her, demonstrating that the power of her magic is directly linked to the sincerity of her heart.
