Description
Hare is a prominent character from the anime, recognized as a humanoid rabbit monster with long ears, large fists, and a generally cute yet energetic appearance. He is the last monster to join the core group of travelers, known as the Searchers, becoming the seventh member of their party.

Originally introduced as a cunning and charismatic con-artist, Hare is driven primarily by self-interest and a love for money in his first appearances. He is easily tempted by greed and can be quite selfish, often embodying a shifty and manipulative nature. His intelligence is one of his defining traits; he is widely considered the smartest and most strategic member of the group, which allows him to be a skilled planner of attacks and escapes. However, this intelligence is frequently accompanied by an inflated ego and a tendency to act in a cunning or overdramatic manner, sometimes leading him to prank his companions or consider abandoning the quest for personal gain.

Hare's motivation for joining the Searchers is not initially one of altruism. He enters the story by cheating in a monster battle against Tiger, seeking the prize money. Although the group forgives him after he offers to buy them dinner, his unreliability continues when he attempts to skip town without paying. He is only compelled to apologize and officially join the team when Tiger catches up to him. Over time, Hare's motivations shift as he develops genuine bonds of friendship. While he is still tempted by rewards, he grows to care for his companions and eventually admits his past faults, becoming a more loyal and reliable member of the Searchers.

Within the story, Hare serves a crucial role as the strategist and accountant. The group often relies on his intellect for planning their next moves and managing their resources. He is observant and adaptable, often using his wits to solve problems, though his tendency to overthink can sometimes hold him back. His most significant dynamic is with Tiger, whom he initially deceived. The two share a constant rivalry, frequently bickering and disagreeing, but this conflict underscores a deep-seated friendship that develops through their shared journey.

Hare undergoes notable character development, particularly regarding his past and his relationships. In a significant third-season backstory, it is revealed that Hare was once part of a thieving trio with two other monsters named Fairy Hare and Wild Hare, who stole supplies from the forces of the main antagonist, Moo. After a mission that proved to be a trap, the group was separated. This history explains the red scarf he wears, which is a tribute to his past comrades. When the trio reunites under difficult circumstances, Wild Hare is revealed to have betrayed them out of jealousy, defecting to Moo's side. Despite this betrayal, Hare confronts his former friend, ultimately forgiving him and crushing the emblem of Moo that Wild wore. This episode deepens Hare's character, showing his capacity for forgiveness and the loyalty he feels toward those he considers true friends.

In terms of combat, Hare is physically quite sturdy and deceptively strong, possessing notable speed and power despite his small stature. His fighting style is focused on boxing and kicking. His known special techniques include the Machine-Gun Punch, One-Two Punch, Spin Fist, Dragon Kick, and a standard Kick. In one instance, he demonstrates his resilience and strength by headbutting a target hard enough to crack it, an act that also reflects his bravery and willingness to stand and fight when it matters most.
