Description
Machvise is an officer of the Donquixote Pirates under the Diamante Army, and he serves as a supporting antagonist during the Dressrosa Arc. He is a large, overweight man with long, wavy blond hair, a big red hat, a large beard and mustache, and sunglasses. He often stands in a pirouette posture despite his size, and his laugh is distinctive.
Machvise was born in the North Blue and at a young age ate the Ton Ton no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to drastically increase his body weight in metric tons, up to a maximum of 10,000 tons. Because of this power, many people tried to kill him to take the fruit, forcing him to live on the run. The pirate Donquixote Doflamingo took an interest in Machvise's ability, and after Machvise could not escape him, he joined the Donquixote Pirates. Over the years, he participated in numerous crew activities, including raids and the takeover of Dressrosa. He was present when Trafalgar Law attempted to escape, and he took part in battles against the Straw Hat Pirates and their allies.
In terms of personality, Machvise is compassionate in a mocking way, as shown by his concern for Baby 5 after she was shot. He is headstrong and ready to fight Marines who might come to the island after Doflamingo's supposed resignation from the Warlords. In combat, he is merciless and cruel, increasing the power of his attacks even against badly injured opponents. He has a habit of ending his sentences with "iin," altering words that normally end in "ing."
His fighting style relies on his Devil Fruit: he gets above his targets, often high in the air, then rapidly increases his weight to crush them with a free fall. The force of his impact can crack the ground and break a giant's bones. He also carries a large, round, cross-shaped shield that he uses to smash opponents, and he keeps it attached to his back with chains. However, Hajrudin eventually recovered and defeated Machvise, breaking his shield in the process. After the Straw Hats and their allies toppled Doflamingo's rule, Machvise was captured by the Marines.
